My BIS engine rebuild is slowly coming together and most of the bottom end is now together. However, I have now encountered a problem I can't seem to resolve.
I want to replace the oil pump, but can't seem to remove the old gear and shaft. I've undone the allen key bolt at one end but can't see where to go from there. The workshop manual I downloaded is no help whatsoever on this, so wondering if someone can point me in the right direction please?
Thanks

I've never been able to remove this myself so I've always left it. I think the reason it's tight is because thes a very substancal oil/water seal that the shaft runs through. It has to be pressed in so over time as you can imagine it'll almost certainly need to be pressed out or pulled out with a large slide hammer.

Thanks for your help again. My oil gears seemed pitted, so I think I'll just try and find a new oil pan with the gearing already in place.
