I think I may have a duff pressure sensor. The light doesn't come on when you switch the ignition on so its either a knackerd switch or simply a dash bulb so is there anyway I can test the sensor first before I rip the dash out?

Sorry, wrong thread. :(

If you unplug the connector at oil pressure switch and earth it the warning light should go on. The oil pressure switch earths the bulb. Thus, if no light (or voltage at the connector) then bulb is most likely dead.

Sorry to resurrect this thread but thought it better than starting a new (potentially duplicate) one.
Is the oil light meant to come on when you turn on the ignition? Mine has never done that until today. Once I start the engine it goes out, and never comes on again.
I just drove home after a 40 minute cruise along the motorway, no warning lights, everything fine. When I parked the car I turned off the engine and then immediately turned the ignition back on, and lo! the oil light came on. Is that right?

Yes, It should come on when you turn the ignition on but go out once its running :)

Ah that's good. Although now I wonder why it suddenly started 'working' today.

Have a look at the wiring where it connects to the terminal that goes onto the oil pressure switch mine had a break right on the point where the terminal is crimped on
