This motor originally had lost oil pressure over a period of time but sat dormant for couple of years , I never pulled it down to find why but recently having to build a new motor , when it got stripped I found rear main bearing absolutely hammered and figured it was that , replaced all bearings and gaskets with new stuff and bolted it all back together , only to discover it still has no ill pressure , I'm getting oil to the rockers at the top but not heaps and I'm unsure how much is correct.
The only thing I didn't use new or check was the oil pump pressure spring , could this be potentially why it has no oil pressure ?
Has anyone had experience with these springs and could explain to me how it could fail , has anyone had to change this due to wear ?

Kal have you tried a different oil pressure switch, or you using the same one? Have you done an oil pressure test with a gauge?
-
Did you check the crank journal for ovality or have it reground ?
-
I tried another switch yes , didn't check crank for roundness no , the bearing was absolutely a jagged but cranked looked perfect so didn't think much of it.
The gauge is my next step, I'm also considering using the spring from old motor that should be ok but I will measure it first.

No ones ever had issues with oil pressure spring , c'mon surely someone knows ?

Problem still unresolved , waiting on a new oil pump valve in the post , if that's not it I give up.

Hi,
What about this ring:

Look at the picture higher. On the front crankshaft bearing there are two oil pressure rings. You have to install them the incision / snick side to crankshaft. If you put both of rings bad side you will have problem with oil pressure and your control of oil pressure will be shine if you start engine.

I'm pretty sure o got the rings right but I will check when I pull it down to change the valve , I built it over 12 months ago now I can't remember lol
-
Finally got a chance to pull it down today , rings are correct and oil pump valve is only marked not worn at all , looks like it's off to the expert I'm out of ideas.
