Title: No Spark at the plugs

Ok really getting stuck! Having FINALLY gotten the time to start sorting Kermit out I have run into a few problems. Thanks to the nice team at 500ricambi the new fuel pump is in and working, however I still have no spark at the plugs. I have put a new coil in, changed the plugs (NGK's), reset the dizzy, new points and condenser (points gap checked!) and shoved a new battery in aswell, I have gone through the ignition timing procedure for the TDC and still bugger all. I noticed that the HT lead to the first cylinder is a bit manky but surely I would still get even a weak spark? and surely a spark on the plug for cylinder 2? What the hell am I missing? I should add that Kermit is a 1974 594 cc. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!!

Do you have a spark when you open the contact points (use a screwdriver), ignition on, distributor cap off to do the check?
I have seen a few times that the new contact points/condenser have not been replaced correctly, it's worth double checking..

Hi Chris, yes I have checked and have a good spark at the points just not at the plugs?

Right not quite sure what I did! but now have a spark on both plugs, albeit 1 good and 1 a bit weaker! trying to jump now from the Rover, heres hoping i dont blow the brushes on the starter again! Fingers crossed

Get some new HT leads or get a multimeter on them and see if there is much resistance in them. Careful you don't get a big nasty shock if they're very ropy!

Ive managed to get her started but she wont stay started (ie a few seconds!) bless she really wants to go!!, so looking at the carb now!! >:( >:(

Check the timing, Make sure it isn't out by 180 degrees

do you have wasted spark ignition(rotoress). the trouble is that i you have high resistance on one cylenders it will effect both. the other issue i have had is some new points need to be cleaned to work.

hopefully you will get your kermit working again.

thanks guys , its got a bit dark now, I think that yes the timing is defo out, will try and resume tomorrow night! thanks so much for your replies will keep you posted!
