Title: Bis - Oversize Pistons for boring out...
Post by: poxxxy on August 05, 2014, 09:30:02 PM
My block/pistons look a little worse for wear and engine is burning oil as soon as its warm... I can only assume that its related. But I think the current block will only be good for boring out (and if going that route... bigger pistons and more displacement sounds like the way to go!) or maybe inserting new liners if they're available?

I assume aircooled pistons would be fine in a water cooled engine and are generally tougher.

possibly just get the bore re-honed and have some oversize piston rings?

It seems anything for a bis engine is difficult to get. Your best bet would be Poland for either oversized pistons and rings, or new liners and standard pistons.
The air cooled pistons won`t fit.

If the water cooled pistons fit in the air cooled... wouldn't these fit? :).

The problem is that the Bis pistons are shorter than the AC ones, so they probably won`t fit.

Hmm nanni ricambi recommended there 82mm pistons and 130mm con rods... piston supplied would have 12mm taken off the compression area I to counter act the 12mm greater on the length of the con rods.
