After recently selling G43 NYC & missing it straight away i started searching for another, then this 1988 unrestored virtually concours 2 owner 126 Bis come up, the second owner buying it in 07 & storing it in hes mother inlaws up until now, covering almost 300 miles in the last 7 years & been fiat serviced up until it being put away(book to prove) the plan is keeping it exactly as is, leaving the original dealer plates & unmarked bumpers, may do some mild lowering & get the wheels banded a little bit to give it a bit of stance.. watch this space...

been toying with wheel ideas & came up with this, keeping the original bis steelies with early ac metal centres, wanted to keep it as original as possible. (http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d127/126JUD/cbc656e0dfe661645477bb711220c949_zps7394799b.jpg)
if anyone could give me advice for the cheapest way to lower a bis i would much appreciate it, heard about cutting the rear springs one coil but dont know what i would do with the front leafs? cheers jud
-
Excellent find! :) lowering can be achieved in many ways. Cutting the rear coils is an option and one coil will drop it about 1 and a half to 2 inches. The front can be done in more than one way too. You can buy a reverse eye spring which will drop it about 15mm. The alloy mounting blocks the the leaf spring bolts to can be shaved down 10mm so there's another drop. Also the leaf spring can be taken apart, and one of the leafs removed and refitted in a different place. This will drop it about 25-30mm.

Nice my friend, that 126 is very original and new!! keep it that way :)
-
Tests in october so thought i better get it done! chopped the blocks 10mm & flipped the second leaf, chopping bump stops in half & chopping back springs 1 coil, well chuffed with the result, also refurbed the wheels to an original light grey with the early ac metal centrecaps until i find some old skool wheels

Looks like were in the same boats :D. Insured from today and going to book it in for test ASAP now! Just refurbished my wheels and was thinking about banding them but can't justify the cost unless I decide to do it myself :D. I might end up performing the lowering modifications but i'll see how it is on the road standard for now. Looks nice! I ended up going white on my wheels but still subject to change if I end up deciding something else would look better.

Cheers mate! Yeah i know same here, worked it out once gettin em banded & then tyres etc, was nearing on for £450, im gonna hold out & get a set of old skool alfa wheels that already have the width i think
