does anyone know if a 500 sunroof would fit a 126? the roof is a bit more curvy if a remember correctly?

also, are the 500 sunroofs ''self contained''? ie,is it just a hole in the roof and the sunroof has all its own fittings/lock handles etc?...had some 500's in the past but im buxxxxd if i can remember!!!

the sunroof has its own fixings on a 500 mate

and the 500 indeed just has a hole in which the sunroof bolts into .. with a lock on the front .. and a centre bar ..

Hi Dave

I've just been out and compared my de ville and 500. The fabric is the same on both, but the frames are different. If you have a de ville with a decent frame then that's no problem. If you need a frame too, then I think Axel Gerstl sell 126 frames. The catalogue on their site should clarify what will fit which car.

If you are planning on converting a stock 126 to a de ville then it looks quite simple. There is a lip around the opening - in theory to keep rain out (it works better on a 500 because the roof is curved) and the back of the sunroof is bolted on at the cross brace on the roof. Someone sent me a pile of pics of a de ville roof (mine has been bodged) which I can forward if you need them.
