Title: Upgrading Suspension / Brakes - where to start?

i wanna beef my stock 126p  suspension and braking system :)

any recommendations for best shocks / brakes?  I don't want to slam the car - but I want to stiffen the handling and steering response.  and of course the braking - disc brake conversion?
