Title: Barn find ;-)
Post by: dajwid on May 17, 2014, 06:34:10 PM
I'm back. I missed my 126 too much, sadly I couldn't face getting Beryl back on the road after the pond incident. I then dabbled with an A40 somerset (more rot than a late 126). My daily is now a Skoda Felicia Fun. mad car, bright yellow love it to bits.

This Maluch was really local to me had been on and off of Ebay,(you all looked and thought what a crapper) but sales never went through. looked like scrap in the photos. I had a chat with the lovely Polish guys and the car is mine, even delivered to my door.

Arrived today, to my wife's horror and my daughters excitement.

Protected everywhere with the usual Polish tar  :)

Car came with a few Extras.  ;D

First problem, 2 flat tyres on the rear, simple fix. Aghhhhh! who the hell used locking nuts on steel wheels, then gives the key that is snapped. I am lucky that I have a universal key 'AKA angle grinder' and the wheels were removed and sorted.

The car is surprisingly solid (so far I can't see any welding needed, sills and floor look fine).

BUT! I am a bit OCD when it comes to clean engines 'see all my past cars'. This one is rather rough. I love the oil cap repair.

I have had no time to play with my new toy as my daughter has a birthday party. Tommorow I go on a rot hunt with my jet washer :-)

At last, after a very tough week in my private life. I had a chance to look at the car.

I need a couple of steels with tyres that hold air. :-)

Before:-
Very dirty and covered in muck. This was in a barn (really) for a long time.

Out with the jetwasher :-) looking for the rot. I am really suprised. Floor is solid, 1 area OS sill at the rear but not bad at all.

The usual window surround, scraped it back it has not rusted through :-)

Thats it so far rust wise. Well Welding rust wise anyway.

Out with the hoover and jet washed the engine. 'I hate dirty engines'.

Removed the nasty seat covers and wiped seats over.

Smashed lamp

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y284/dajwid/photo23_zps1dc9285a.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/dajwid/media/photo23_zps1dc9285a.jpg.html)

Luckily a few spares including 2 rear lights.

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y284/dajwid/photo13_zpsaccf5f6c.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/dajwid/media/photo13_zpsaccf5f6c.jpg.html)

Ok thats the good. Now the bad.

Starter motor runs but not turning engine, just spins. Not worried yet though.
2 wheels knackered. Roof dented. Looks like it was lifted like Beryl, my last 126. using straps. I am looking for a porta power to sort it out.

(http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y284/dajwid/photo42_zps895dbc56.jpg) (http://s7.photobucket.com/user/dajwid/media/photo42_zps895dbc56.jpg.html)

Loof lining sagging (I always bin them anyway.

Looks pretty good, better than Beryl was when you first got her?
You going for the same sort of look?
