Title: Won't Start
Post by: essex southend on March 23, 2014, 10:26:53 AM
Morning All

Drove the car out the garage no problems,  pop in doors for 10 minutes, back to the car turn ignition and nothing  ??? all the lights come on and the battery is okay.... anyone point me in the right direction please?... I suspect the connector on the starter motor.

Thanks

I've had this happen to me twice - both times in a petrol station just after filling up. After the first time I put it down to a dodgy ignition switch so swapped it with another one I had but then it happened again so I came to the same concussion as you did and thought maybe it was the starter motor sticking. It hasn't done it for a while so it's never been a concern yet

Why are you doing working on a Sunday, Ray? That day is supposed to be reserved for fixing Fiat 126!

Try cleaning the carb (and the contacts)...that usually fixes most things!

Problem was the starter motor connector which I have now replaced,  have also fitted the new number plates, fog lights and made a hinge for the drivers door so well chuffed.

A known culprit! It's always a good idea to take time of a day off to clean (replace if needed) as many connections as you can get your hands on.
