bought my bis just before christmas, getting it ready for when i pass my test in may. after debating whether to get an aircooled or a watercooled i decided a watercooled would be more practical for the tailgate etc. after sourcing early bumpers, steering wheel, & other bits i decided i wanted to go for the early look, still looking for wheels etc so would be interested if anyones got anything laying about or up for swaps as ive got a few bis parts, cheers jud

Way cool! :)
-
:good:
-
I had them wheels on my BIS when I first got it. Nice little motor.
Marc
-
Are you implying that Jud may have, well, stolen those wheels by any chance? ;)
-
Done a good job there! :good:
-
if anyones looking for a wheel swap or got any wheels for sale, i would be very interested ;) the wheels aint really my taste for the look im going for :(
-
Looking good. It`s so much better with the early mirrors and the chrome bumpers.
So what sort of wheels are you after? Some old school alloys, steelies?
-
either really, was going to get some standard aircooled steelies to go with the look or similar era old school alloys?
jud
-
Are you implying that Jud may have, well, stolen those wheels by any chance? ;)
Of course not.......cant think what I did them though? Mmmm?
lol
-
Think you sold em to the guy before?
Jud
-
I have some Bis steelies with almost new tyres
-
Looking for early steels really
Cheers anyway
-
Hi Jud , looks like a nice little motor there & good luck with that test in May :D
If you can get hold of old Panda or Uno steelies then you can use something like 155 / 65 tyres on the 13" rims. It also keeps your options open for an economical disc brake upgrade which would be a lot more expensive with 12" rims.
-
Cheers mate! & Yeah i know where your coming from & will keep it in mind. Ladislav's sorted me some 12's out atm anyway.
Jud
-
Car looks great buddy :thumbup great idea with the strips on the sides to cover the door trim holes I might well pinch that idea :D
-
someones noticed  just for now until it goes in for paint
jud
-
Just out of interest how did you get around the rear fog and reverse light issue? I noticed on one of your pics that you didn't have any?
-
Dont have any atm, but before i put it in for its next test, i going to make some brackets up & hang the originals of the bis bumpers just below the chrome bumper
Jud
-
rubbed down & got the rare metal centres painted today, ready for the 12" steelies that are going white :$

They look awesome :D I love shiny new steelies on 126 much better than alloys IMO can't wait to see them!. Mine are currently in the shop getting dipped and painted silver

Looks like someone works in a sign shop? My trade also!
Marc
-
Yeah my dads a signwriter, hence the side stripes made by himself
Jud
-
Ha Ha , had to smile when I saw those parts drying off on your heater :)
The big radiator in my sitting room has been an almost permanant host to various Fiat parts that I have been restoring.
-
had a play with the 126 today, trying wheels of my mums 500 to see what they looked like, its crazy how wheels change a car! defo makes it look earlier, also cut the dash about & fitted an early gear knob & steering wheel, just need to figure out how to fit the early dash speedo.

-
Lovely :) what tacho are you using in the BIS ?
-
Your car does look like an earlier A/C, good job. Only 1 suggestion......maybe change the door mirrors to chrome?
Just an idea!
Marc
-
I prefer the black ones, dont want it too look like im trying to hard to make it look older & it look to ott
-
Hi, any chance you can post some more pictures of the interior, dash, seats etc... thanks
-
I love the Fiat family tree picture - keep up the great work, mate, super pictures! ;D
-
I love the Fiat family tree picture
I have to agree...
no contest though, 126 is the best by a mile... :)
I also share judson-126's opinion on the mirrors:
after my wedding, I'll ditch my chrome ones in favour of the standard items...
-
I'm a fan of the chrome myself ;D
-
don't know,
in my mind the 126 belongs to the 80s...
so black wiper stalks, black door handles, black fenders (or no fender 8)), and so on...
-
i dont even mind it looking 70's & old skool, i just dont want it looking to cluttered & it looking like its crashed into halfords & had every chrome accessory put on it. im a sucker for 'less is more', too much chrome can look like im trying to hard to make it something its not. will update pictures soon after i get my mint condition brown Aircooled interior in it :$
-
Now Jud where did you manage to get hold of such an interior? Btw I have an early brown dashboard cover if you decide to change the clocks.
All you need now is an air cooled engine in the back :P
-
Haha i wonder :P & that would be really handy if i could grab that aswell! Ill pm you soon when im free
Cheers jud
-
hi this was my car which I sold to the person you got it from , wished I never sold it !!
I just did not have the time and at the time had lost my storage, nice to see it back in Essex, I have another one now , white bis .
if you are not far away I would love to see the car again.
when I had it

me & dad designed some stripes today as i thought the black ones looked too imposing, other than that nothing much done really, getting Interior out saturday & a couple of wheels are in the process of being refurbed, also bidding on a nice period bucket seat which i hopefully win!

Got a spare set if anyone wants a set, (designed to cover trim holes) or can cut to prefered colour, still have the old set available aswell
-
What are those 4 spoke alloys you have fitted? I think they look great.
-
there called fondmetal, maybe for sale very soon
-
nothing much done really due to time & busy at college, after debating whether to cut the dash about i decided to retro fit some clocks which look pretty factory

-
Excellent :D I did the very same thing with my first one many years ago except I used a an ammeter instead of an oil pressure gauge. Do they work?
-
Looks good, nice job.
-
Where's your radio slot??
-
The stripes look good!
Dials are in tune with the car too.
well done!
-
yeah they work, light up & everything ;) & im not running a radio, chopped it of because i want it as uncluttered as possible, just gonna have an aux lead coming out the centre console with subs in the back door pockets. also picked up a new back panel a while back as the original is dented, so took it into college & welded up any unnesacery holes i didnt want in my lunch breaks :P the pros of doing a metal fab & welding course

-
quite alot of progress made over the last few days, made some new door panels up whilst fitting the earlier window winders, also made up some new abarth style stripes & black & red badges & wheel caps, boot lid wrapped with a 70's black band round the window, gromited the wiper to give it a cleaner uncluttered look & some period pressed plates. also removed the black guttering cover which left no horrors. got a few a/c & bis parts for sale is anyones interested.

Looking good, I love it. Some nice little touches.
Marc
-
the car looks absolutely fantastic! :good:
Nice sorting of the rear hatch. Given that brilliant solution, I'd consider nice and shiny plastic bumpers...but that's me.
Judson, you mentioned you were looking for different rims. Any news on that front?
-
i am considering blacking the bumpers but im not sure yet! & i cant make my mind up what wheels i want, have you got some then?
cheers jud
-
i cant make my mind up what wheels i want
give the forum hints:
size?
any particular theme? (UK, Italian make, 80s look, modern look)
budget?
off the top of my head:
- Cromodora CD30 : check the garage section for my car. I think they look good.
- Minilites
- NTM . These are absolutely gorgeous. very light, but expensive. Custom order, they'll even send you a pre made scheme for you to fill up with your measurements (you'll be sure they clear disk calipers when you order).
have a look:
http://www.ntmwheels.com/it-IT/prodotti/ruote-per-auto-da-competizione/componibile-13
mind you, I find absolutely nothing wrong with your Fondmetals...
-
oh, don't forget to consider steelies...
-
80s/70s look really & either 12 or 13's, i dont mind if they need a refurb either
-
few little bits sorted over these last few weeks, ill let the pics do the talking..

not been on here in a while.. been playing with a mk2 type 19 golf gti i got given but unfortunately is a 1.8 so insurance would kill me,
(http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d127/126JUD/90590cc96aa722b33dde8b9bcbeb4c02_zps10953dae.jpg)
with that put on ebay i finally got back to the bis, finished of the repairs & finally got my nos carpet, aircooled centerconsole & leather seats in! was tempted to rip the back seat out but keeping it in as a token flapped down for insurance reasons, the ribbed ac back seat panel looks pretty cool anyway..
