Post by: Ministig on September 29, 2013, 10:35:08 PM
I want to put a cherry bomb on my bis. Is this possible?

Possible, yes, easy, no. There is no non standard exhaust available for the BIS from what I know, also a big bore back box tends to reduce power unless a lot of other work is done to go with it. There is no point getting any after market exhaust, you would have to modify it so much that you would be better off getting a custom exhaust made. It is a single peice exhaust so very different to almost every other car.

I had an exhaust made by a local company to me (Suffolk) but they are a country wide franchise POWERFLOW exhausts. Google them and you may find one near to you? Mine sounded great but it'll cost you between £250-£300!!

With some fabrication, yes. A guy on Instagram has put a bike exhaust on his bis without tuning carb etc. and tells me there are no issues whatsoever

I'm looking for a standard exhaust for my Bis and can't find one yet. Ricambio and Axel Gerstl have said no.  :(

Nobody seems to do them any more, mine has several holes and the patches and paste aren't holding any more  :(

Arr thanks guys.  :)
That last one, the sports exhaust, looks cool but it doesn't have the pipes for sending preheating air to the air box, which I think I might need given the winters in the UK

Mine has never been connected, I ripped the piece of crap off! I think they're for real harsh weathers like in Poland. I've never had a problem with a good battery

It is to stop the carb freezing up, my Polo Breadvan used to do it constantly throughout winter months. It has nothing to do with starting.

I had a Panda 750 that used to freeze up the carb on the motorway with almost total loss of power. Until somebody explained to me about the importance of preheating pipes. You had to pull over and wait a few mins for the carb to thaw out lol.

Don't know if 126's do it though.

I run my aircooled all year round and never had any problems and some Fiat 500s were flown into the Antartic by the NZ exploration team and apparently did very well  :)

So preheating is not required? Does this apply to the Bis?
