What exactly is a DeVille then? What are the differences? (I'm new to 126's)

I'm not an expert (even though I've got one!) but my understanding is that it's a special edition, with a nice interior and some other unique features e.g. my car has a factory fitted Voxson radio which is awesome (when I get reception!). 8)
There's a lot of attention given to some of the other special editions like the Black, Brown, Red, Silver etc. but I think the DeVille deserves to be up there. I've seen loads chopped up by people who don't really understand what they are which is very sad but has probably helped make them much more rare and exclusive......even Rusty has one! ;D

As Garry says it`s the more "luxurious" model and they came with pop out rear windows, adjustable seat backs, nice cloth trimmed interiors and a fold back sun roof. They were called the Personal 2/4 in other markets, but they didn`t all have sun roofs. They are called DeVille in the UK. Some of the German spec cars even had tinted windows.
This is my understanding anyway.

they also were equipped with an alternator and not the standard dynamo that lesser 126s were fitted with. the problem with them now is that although originally the cord cloth interiors were really nice over time they deteriorate and the colour fades whereas the stock 126 models fitted with the pvc interiors have stood the test of time and appear much smarter. the deville versions also had the big heavy rubber side protectors that were intended for protection in the urban environment as this is where the car was intended to be used hence the model name. if you can get one then go for it as the car is worth it just for the pleasure of the fold back fabric/pvc roof.
