Title: Meet Chewy
Post by: Chewy on August 23, 2013, 12:02:25 PM
Hi

My name's Sophie, I live in the Stockport area and imported 'Chewbacca' back in 2010. It's a distributor-less 652 air-cooled with a home-grown disc brake conversion (I can't claim all credit - I think the mounting plates came from someone on here. Rusty's Uncle?).

I have a few plans for the car but it is my daily drive so nothing too serious. Short term plans are a bit of head work and fitting an fzd (although reading a few posts on here I might try an 1 1/4 SU first). I would really like to get some independent suspension on the front but that's money and will just have to wait; I should probably look at sorting out the positive camber on the back first anyway! However, this has been the plan since 2010 so things move slowly.

I have always taken my other cars to classic meets as I just think of the fiat as my daily but it is time it had some love, and so that is why I'm here! Below is a photo of when we found the car and it currently (10 minutes ago to be precise - sorry it's dirty).

Look forward to meeting some of you

Sophie

Welcome. Looks good, I've been after Uno turbo wheels. Where is the shed of 126's?

Marc

Hi Marc,

The shed is in Krakow, Andrej (who I bought the car off) had hundreds that he used for charity, mine was the only un-abused one.

I have a spare set of turbo wheels. I think are 3 Cromodoras and one speedline. I would be willing to part with them but they are in need of some serious restoration. I'll take some photos tonight for you.

Thanks

Thank-you! They're quite light weight for a fairly cheap 13" wheel, which always helps!

The dinks are quite large so I would advise they go to a professional to be fixed but then I am rather fussy with my wheels. 2 Cromadoras and 2 Speedlines. They weigh the same and have the same dimensions. The Speedines have been painted silver at some point. Let me know if you're interested!
