Title: Gear stick spring?
Post by: gnash on April 09, 2006, 09:56:36 PM
Evening all,

This afternoon (driving through heavy sleet in the Mourne Mountains) the gear stick stopped springing back to the 3rd-and-4th-gear side.  Is there a spring that's come adrift?  Also the gear stick has always rotated freely (not a major inconvenience).

Thanks in advance for any help...

Right fella give me a ring. Here I was at Nendrum monastic site down by Castle Espie, then had a lovely lunch at Daft Eddie's.What were the Mourne's like yesterday bet it would have foundered ya :smt119.If I remember right if you take the centre console out and the cover's under the carpet there is a rat tailed coil spring that wrap's round the gear lever allowing the lever to go to the centre position.

Thanks Paul!

I'll give that a look.  I've gotta get in there to fix the heating lever cable too.  I'd temporarily set it to always hot, but that could get a bit toasty if we ever get a summer. I'll give you a ring later for a chat...
