Post by: ten_pence on July 07, 2013, 12:06:29 PM
hi everyone, i haven't been on here before, i have a fiat 126 bis that i have owned for 5 years, she has been sitting on my drive feeling sorry for herself whilst i save up money to get her restored. i have a budget of £6000 and wish to upgrade the engine i would like a turbo in her can someone one give me advise which way to go and whats the best engine for her. i have been reading threads and bike engine sounds nice but i want reverse!! lol. and yes this will be completed and not a project that will be left. i had her running last year ( standard engine and box ) i took the engine out and cleaned it and put it back in but not enough power for me but love the caracter of the 126's so want more power so advice on a turbo engine would be great. and i will be upgrading brakes and suspension etc.. ( sorry to go on lol ) pictures will be added soon.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of hop up parts for the Bis, if at all. Several attempts have been made to convert the Bis with a bike engine, but I have yet to see one legally on the road. Many, if not all of the bike conversion projects, have ended up unfinished, and sold as spares or repair. With regards to adding a turbo, I have to see a Bis with one installed.

I am not an expert, but the only option that comes to mind is, perhaps skimming the head, port and polish and reboring the pistons for more umph.
