Hello fellow 126ers,
I have always liked the thought of having one of these rather characterful little cars. As a result I almost bought the little blue pickup that was for sale on ebay. Having seen what other forum members said about it I'm glad I didn't!
Anyway I'm now on the intrepid hunt for the right 126. Iam keeping an eye out on the forum and rather like the look of Tino. However the thought of driving a 126 from Wolverhampton to Downham Market in Norfolk fills the wife with fear?? (Though I'm the one that will be doing the driving).
So that's me (Manish) aka Beetroooting 126.
Ps pls do let me know if there is something up for grabs that's worth taking a look at
Thanks very much

Welcome to the forum! :D

Hello and welcome to the forum!! Are you looking for an aircooled or watercooled version 126?
-
Welcome to the forum :D I must however dispute Downham being in North Norfolk!!
Nice to have another enthusiast in the county.

I'm not too sure as to what engine to go with to be honest. A chum of mine says the water cooled one is a pain in the backside but reading up on them if they are looked after can be just fine.
Sorry about my geographical hiccup but the wife has also pointed out that we are in west norfolk rather than north norfolk. :$

The watercooled (goblin teasmade) is more powerful as standard, and is fine as long as you maintain the cooling system and bleed it weekly. I've never had an aircooled (hairdryer), but I believe they are a little more reliable. Saying that, if you were looking for a reliable car you would buy a new KIA ;D .
Ask if you're not sure about anything and can't find it on the forum.
I am 25 miles north of you in Norfolk, hope to see you about in your 126 when you get one.

There must be something seriously wrong with your engine Mark :o If you have to bleed it every week :D I haven't touched my cooling system mine in 3 years :P

I don't have to bleed it weekly, but I did for a while to see what was happening.
-
It sounds like a minor few mins a week to have such a characterful car
-
I can honestly say you won't have to do that (http://club126uk.co.uk/smf/mobiquo/emoji/E152.png) Once you find a 126 whether Its water or air cooled make sure you treat it to a full service, then you shouldn't have any problems

The reason I had to for a while was a dodgy rubber seal on the cooling system filler cap. I just revitalised it with a bit of petrol, been fine since.
