Hey All
Has anyone lowered their aircooled on standard wheels? Got any pics?
Just wondering what mine will look like!
ta :)
-
ive lowered mine on 13" inch steelies
..

Im not sure if the 126 has the same wheel arch returns as the 500 , but even on standard steel rims on 145/12 tyres, the metal returns touch the rubber ,and thats without lowering, 13 inchers put on a 500 look too large , not sure what the 126 has. However you can buy a rim roller which bolts on the f/r hubs and with a bit of warmth with a hair dryer (to stop the paint cracking) you can very effectively roll the metal return under the arch, stopping the contact metel/rubber. Here is an A/C lowered. I think it's on 13's but not sure

This one is lowered front and back on 12" steelies, but hasn`t got an engine in it yet, so it`s still sitting a bit high.

Excellent, have you done any mods to the arches? and what have you used to lower? I see the reverse eye leafs are on a few sites now.
Cheers

This is mine with 1 full ring cut out of the rear coil spring so it locates into the upper and lower supports, I also have a reverse eye spring on the front :D
-
No modification needed to the arches with standard wheels. On the front I used a "straightened" leaf spring with lower alloy blocks underneath and rear shocks.
The back is done as Pete mentioned. One ring cut out and used shorter shocks.
You can buy complete kits now including everything you need for about £200 from Italy.

Thanks chaps helpful as ever, plenty of other stuff to do before I get to this point but I need to be thinking about it.

This is what 2 coils on the rear looks like :P

That looks great fiatos! what wheels are those?
Another related query the back end of mine seems to have alot of positive camber. Will probably look worse as its not been on the road for so long and jacked up etc so suspension doesn't settle. I presume the only way of addressing this is to lower it given the design of the rear arms?
-
Spot on, the lowering will case negative camber.
