Well I would love to learn more about 'learn to choose the right camshaft' but looking at page below I'm nailed to the ground. To much to choose from...pfff! ???
http://sklepswiatek.pl/fiat-c-54_110.html?str=50
...high lift, low lift, long duration, short duration, more-/less overlap you name it. Its all there. And if you compare a fast cam with a standard cam they both have an duration around 315Ëš. I always thought that the higher the duration number the faster the cam is.
At the moment I'm really confused because there is so much to choose from. All I know right now is that in NL they advice me to buy a 40/80-80/40 300Ëš cam and that a good cam for fast road use needs torque in the lower and middle rpm field. That is better then to have a gas guzzling high rev cam which only will work well on highways.
Somebody out there to help me out?
ps: 'W' stands for 'regular' road use, 'R' for 'rally' and 'GT' for 'race'.
-
It all depends what you plan on using the car for.
Race cam wont tick over nicely at the traffic lights ;D
-
...car will be used in daily driving. Or I'll take it out on these famous Sunday drives. The engine I've got is a 652 air cooled. There will be some modding to the head too and the carb I will mount is gonna be a Solex 34 PBIC. A CSC exhaust will be on the engine as well. So...which cam is gonna help me out best? (..it prob. will be two or more)

288* - FT.20020 (http://sklepswiatek.pl/fiat-126p-p-2157.html) is the new name of the former model #385. On the border between street and race. With the mods you want it will gain 35hp with only 1l more gas per 100km ( 98 octane).
The modifications Swiatek names are:
-1,8/2,5mm head skimming
-25/45% lighter flywheel
Sport exhaust
98 octane
A friend of mine has it 5 years now (~50.000km) and he's pretty happy with it.
More than 290* is not a daily driver :)
PS: More than -25% lighter flywheel isn't good for the street. Abarth's one weights about the same as original 650cc -25%.
-
Do you mean it will up the hp by 35, or it will increase the hp to 35?
Dajwid is right, my dad fitted an ex saloon car championship samuri racing (Wyn Percy and Martin Brundle) top end on his 1976 celica (one of the pit crew were working at the same factory as my dad and said he had a few parts still laying about :D ), it would barely run below 4000 rpm. Was unusable in town, it was an absolute weapon on the open road though!!
-
35hp in total :thumbup and it's a lot, well +50% power.
Max torque ~4000rpm, max power ~6000rpm.
Well, I said 35hp, but it depends on modifications. If I remember well, the minimum was 30hp with this one. Max speed about 130-140km/h and 0-100km/h in 12-15 sec. :)
-
my engine is 34 with this carb, its good engine for normal drive....
but....
with 555 from KAÅUÅ»A can get 45.... bhp head go down 5mm fly wheel 2,7kg sport exhaust, diferrent valves, and few thinks....
-
Where did you get the specs of Swiatec from? I've been looking for such at there site but I couldn't find it at all.
I do not understand why some (Blitz) say that 1.6 mm is max skimming while Swiatek and all other Poles say 2 till 3 mm. is no problem. Who is right in this?...and please remember valve lift!
I think that getting above 30 hp. is satisfying to me. Read 35! :P
A 300Ëš cam seems same as 595 EsseEsse. So far as I know this set up was used on the street as well. Am I right?
-
they are on Polish webs....

Read something about Dynamic compression ratio!
Matuska could help you ;) http://www.126fan.sk/eshop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=6&products_id=826

This link only brings us to a home page of Sloval 126 forum. Not the particular subject.
@ Popik: In what kind of quality does the Swiatek cams come? They show different prices and on there site they show gray and dark gray variants.
-
Hm, don't know what's wrong with the link... The camshaft costs 120E, no special info, probably they got different models on stock.
PM to Ludevit Matuska 126fan.sk (http://club126uk.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4573.0) here in the forum, he will advice you.
-
1 one 3best/most popular.... all of them are diferrent.... diferrent high, and time of open velves..
-
Yeah I did notice that. But which cam is most pop? Here they advice 290 - 300 degrees cam for road. Which one is that from the Swiatec cataloq?
-
385 is most popular on road 555 and 1350gt for racing.....
-
Kaluza...is that a cup? Race cup or/and some way of competition? I have found the cam on Swiatec but I noticed that the duration is less then the standard cam: just 225/221 with 7.9/7.8 valve lift.
A 300 degrees (actually 298 dgr.) has a lift of 7.2/7.2. Alpha angle here is 108 dgr.
So how come you mention it as a compition cam? (well you didn't but it really looks like it)
Strangely the 555 only comes up when you keep the Swiatek site on Polish language. How odd. Why would that be?
-
Compare here - http://www.126fan.pl/www/wal_rozrz.htm
225/221 with 7.9/7.8 valve lift - what product number has this one? Or link maybe.
-
You dont have polish characters.... kałuża 555
http://mfk126p.nazwa.pl/dzial.php?id=3255
last one

There is something wrong in the last list - 114 is 274" and 385 - 288", not 288 and 298.

Hi.
I'll try to shed some light on from my point of view, from when I used to sit in it better.
Swiatek cams:
114 it's cam just for road use. Can't get more then 32-35 bhp from that one with some heavy mods.
385 it's MOST popular road and race. Easy to live with on road and quite tuneable for racing. With at least 2mm head skimm, your carb, -25% of flywheel, mods to timming chain sprocket and ignition and exhaust/inlet you'll see 35 usable bhp easy. I would say even more than that.
760 most extreme from Swiatek's range back then (ca 10 years ago) for 'normal' customers/ of shelf. Require heavy mods to engine: skimm about 6-7mm, recesed pistons, big valves, lightened and balanced components, twin carbs, racing exhausts, light flywheel. Can't use on road, as previously mentioned barely any tickover.
Kaluza 555 !!would get in heart beat. Not so extreme as 760 and better then 385. Can get around 55bhp with right mods. And still can live with it on roads. Hard to get nowadays, there used to be some copys on moto.allegro.pl
There is loads of variations of above and some other small manufacturers that can make custom one for your needs.
In my opinion you should get swiatek 385 (or current equivalent) for your needs. It's absolutely perfect for day to day/weekend use. That cam was introduced when 126 was still in production just wondering why they haven't use it in later models ;D
The above are only my thoughts from 10 years back when I had pleasure to own 126 with Kaluza 555 and drove couple with swiatek 385s, when Breda exhaust(which I have on mine) was only reserved for rally/autograss cars :P
Also, that is place to look at---> http://www.motonews.pl/forum/?op=fvf&c=0&f=25
Loads of rally mad members but also some classic lovers ;)
Cheers

Thanks. That is a good support. I sent some email to Swiatek because it seems that you can't order on there website. No response. And that after serveral times. Nothing. Are they fake?
-
As I advised you before, ask Matuska. He will maybe help you.
You can ask here no need to register http://www.swiatek.fora.pl/sportowe-walki-rozrzadu,5/ or contact [email protected] the guy that answers the forum.
They are not fake and they do answer if you have the correct email. I don't know the actual one, but here you have these answers from 2008.
.............................
If you want to pay for a camshaft, you need to make payment by bank transfer, i.e. pay directly into our account. You can make an order by email. We can send a camshaft by post or by courier.
Kind regards
Company Swiatek

Hello,
If you want to order the camshafts need to write how many (possible negotiation of price in the contract more than 5 ).
We prefer payment to the account after which we send a courier pack.

Picture seem to show us that the Kaluza has high lift and closes valve fast. Are we correct? :P
So far no response from Swiatek. Odd.
Are there any Polish drivers on this forum who can mail home and ask there family to check out what is wrong at Swiatek? :$ And how to order from an other EU country. Thank you.
-
...well well well, finally I made contact with Swiatec. Therefore I had to sent an email to the production manager. The good man writes pretty good English. He did answer all my question very nicely.
Here is some of the correspondence with subject the '555' walek...
-quote-
Do you still sell the Kaluza 555 Walek?...and what is/was the difference between the '555' and the above 'R.385'?
Yes we still sell the Kaluza 555 camshaft. Below you cans see parameters of both camshafts:
FT.25280 ('555')
Duration: INTAKE 311 / EXHAUST 300 deg
Cam lift: 7,90 / 7,80 mm
FT.20000 ('385')
Duration: INTAKE 298 / EXHAUST 298 deg
Cam lift: 7,20 / 7,20 mm
555 is a racing camshaft and 385 is a rally camshaft. Choise between them depends also on engine modifications.
-unquote-
May I conclude that the '555' is absolutely not for common road use? And that the 385 is therefore a much better choice?
-
if You want road drive take 385....

if You want road drive take 385....
THx. I will.
Last week I sent an email to my Polish connection. Also no response. I'll guess Polish internet is not that stable. Or all my emails arrive in the unwanted box as spam. Therefore I will wait some extra time. After this I will make an order at Swiatek to sent a cam to Holland.
Guess what the international shippingrates are....35,-€! -glunk!- :-
