Title: Late Chrismas Lunch. 10th February. St Albans. AL3 6JZ
Post by: Pete126 on November 17, 2012, 06:05:14 PM
Any members up for a get together just before Christmas if there is enough interest we can meet up and have a meal and a chat on Sunday the 2nd of December at The Garden House in St Albans. For you postcode enthusiasts its AL3 6JZ  This will be more of a social meet, 126’s would be nice but not optional so you can turn-up in any motor, If you have any parts for sale/swap or wants you can do the business here and enjoy a meal in the Carvery.

So if your interested and have parts to bring with you just post them on this thread.

Sounds like a good idea. The venue is just outside the M25, not too far from me!
As for the parts, does anyone have a spare disc brake bracket? I think Rusty did a template and had a few laser cut in the past.

Right guys we need more members to attend, I haven't chosen the location because i live round the corner it actually 217 miles away from me. I will leave it till the weekend then decide whether to go ahead or cancel the Christmas get together.

Talking of Xmas...

This book would make a great present if anyone asks you what you want:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-126-1972-2000-great-history-book-/380519660612?pt=UK_CarParts_Vehicles_Manuals_Litterature_ET&hash=item5898bd3c44#ht_509wt_793

I've got it myself, it's in Italian but the pictures are amzing, the car on page 19 makes me want to cry it's so nice...

Hi all!

Sorry for the delay in catching up on this post, I've been digitally useless recently :)

I'm afraid I have to go into hospital on the 29th, with 1 - 2 weeks recovery expected, so no way I'll be able to bounce around in the 126 all the way down there that soon after!

I'll see if I can arrange to be chauffeured, but it'll depend on how I'm feeling physically by the 2nd and chauffeur availability ;) lol

I really would be gutted to not see you all :(

Lina

It seems that we are all a little busy leading up to Christmas, So the best thing to do is postpone the get together till after Christmas, Thanks to Angelo,Tom,Ladd,Mike and Lina for your support, and we'll see if we can arrange a late  :xmas2: Lunch in February.

Lina hope everything goes well on the 29th :thumbup

6th February is my birthday in case you all wanted to trip up to Yorkshire to help me celebrate!   ;)

Either way, I'll be off work that week and would love to join a get together wherever it might be!  ;D

Hope we get something sorted and sorry I could not make it this side of Xmas.

I've managed to arrange a lift down to St Albans on the 2nd, so I can still make it if anyone wants to re-suggest the 2nd??  If we're giving up on a pre-Xmas Xmas meet and going for a post-Xmas Xmas meet, the Feb's going to be fine :D

Thanks for the good wishes guys! xxx

Awww thats a shame, but better if we can all make a meet together. Will need to check my shifts once a date has been chosen.

I have seen pictures of the slav's new ride, and I have actually seen one being used as a trailer and being pulled by a horse in Bulgaria!  :$

Have we got a date for February?

Either way I'm going to do my best to make it so to start the tally:

1) Pete126
2) Bar Vitelli (on MegaBus, I dare not risk my blue car again!)

Anyone else? (Hope Rusty can make it or at least write a poem/ditty for the event!)

Dunno, he is quite tall, but there is less hair, so it may be possible  :D

We are looking at staying at the premier inn for the night, so if Stuey is up for a cramped journey, and staying (probably not in the same room, Hazey will get jealous ;D ), he is more than welcome.

That's a good idea ;D Just checked the price £29 for a room 1-2 adults, Get there lunch time Saturday then spend the afternoon in London shopping or sightseeing :P

Exactly, we were thinking of staying the sunday night, but, if we were to all book for the same night, do you think they would do us all a discount? We are a provable group, might be worth a go as a conference.

How many Members are we expecting :D I think we would need to book at least 20 rooms before they would consider a Discount, But 29 quid a night seems very reasonable to me ;)

I have no idea how things like premier inns work, after 5 years with electricity and taps I still wander round hearing weird noises, premier inns are on a whole other level!

I contacted the place to see how they were fixed and they said they were sorry we could not make it for the original December 2nd date last year but they had kept the turkey, that Pete ordered, warm and were still basting it every day so that should be nice then  :P :o :P
There is a vedgie option , a turnip , but please order in advance if you want it washed  ;D

I'm working til about 2pm so can't make lunch but I'll only be 17 miles away so might able to come along later. The 126 needs a good run, it's only been out once so far this year...

No snow so far, I even took the Vespa for a spin earlier today (it goes next week, sold like the Beetle), so fingers crossed we'll be at the Fiat 126 Xmas Party......in Pete's Mercedes (!!)   ;D

Apologies. We will not be able to go. I just got up after having spent a couple of hours in the early hours of the morning in the A&E. It was nothing serious. Weirdly, my wife broke her small toe.

I guess that your good lady will have to kick your butt with the other foot for a while then  ;D
Anyway it's a shame you missed out . I arrived at about 12.45 and it was great to see two other 126s in the car park  :)
Pretty good gathering inside by that time as I found out and a couple more to come. Good to catch up with familiar faces and meet others from the forum that I had not met before. Much Fiat talk and a little bit of horse trading. It was wet, wet, wet on the way there and I was one of the first to leave at 3.30 with the chat still going strong but on the way home it was sleet, sleet, sleet  ::)
So I hope all the guys that made the trip make it home Ok  :)
I am sure that there will be some stories to tell. Which reminds me , we lined up the 3 cars , Lina's , Graham's & mine for a picture outside in the pouring rain. A family group came outside and lingered for a while by the cars with much chat. Then the Daddy of the group turned to me and said how great & unexpected it was to see the cars as when he grew up in Italy his first car was a Fiat 126.

Great to see everyone again! Hopefully this year will bring many more events as the club grows from strength to strength.

Very wet but great to see a couple of 126's made it in the weather. Fingers crossed they got home ok too.

Apologies if I looked like a zombie!

See you all at the next one!  ;D
