Title: Air Filters....
Post by: Lioux on August 21, 2012, 11:21:06 PM
As the top of our carburettor is missing I was thinking about putting one of those funky chrome pancake air filters on, are they any good??  If so what size would fit a Bis as I have seen them for sale as 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 inch but not sure how I tell which I need or what bit a should be measuring to find out!!  Any advice appreciated or should I just use one of the cone air filters??
AND.. I notice there is a hose that seems to go from the existing air filter to near the oil filler cap, if I change the set up what happens with this??
Thanks
Louise

If it fits properly (good seal on the top of the carb and not fouling the engine cover), then it will be fine, if not I wouldn't bother with one. The pipe is the oil breather, it will not really effect the running of the car if it is disconnected, but it will make a bit of a mess. Someone had a nice solution for this, can't remember who.

thanks for that I am learning so much on this forum... better get my finger out and do some action!  I think I will do the cone filter for now so I don't have to worry about the oil trap and filter but may change it later, main priority is to get the car running and Motd!!
