Title: 126 Roof lining help
Post by: hedgehog738 on August 10, 2012, 11:08:55 PM
hi guys, When i got my 126 the roof lining had been torn out, i have called some local garage places and i can get it re-done for £200,
£50 for people to take the roof out, £100 for a guy to attach the material and £50 for it to be put back in.
Does anyone know of any cheaper ways for this to be done or does anyone know how to do it so i can do it myself? any advice would be great! Thanks a lot, George. :P

I cant find the thread at the moment but a few of the guys on here have done it themselves you can buy the spray glue from B&Q for a few quid and the material from ebay for under £20 (i did my bmw headlining in tartan for £13)
so essentially yes do it your self and save alot of money..

I'll just wait for somone to post a link to the thread where they did it themselves....

Your current BMW? I've only seen the door hinges in that, you'll have to show me how you did it.

Someone's carpeted our roof at some point, straight on to the metal. Thought it was standard until people started talking about headlining.

Pull at the edge in the middle front or rear.

The front seats slide out anyway, Hold lever and slide forward, they are designed to take out for use at a picnic :-)

Rear seats pop out, seat part grab in the middle and pull up then forward, rear just pull upwards :-)

We have just got our first 126 the roof is bare but a nice red paint, I guess someone has taken out the roof lining card already!  After reading some posts about doing your own new roof lining and recovering door cards I am going to do it myself as we did a good job with that spray glue and special carpet on the interior of our VW T5 - a professional looking job if I say so myself 8) It really isn't that difficult and if you tear the card getting it out just make a new one, I am really looking forward to adding some funky fabric to the car but husband says we better get it running and Mot first! ::)
