With the nice weather I decided to change the gear oil. No big issues. The sump plug and the filler plug both came out with no hassles. My problem was that I had to buy two 1 litre bottles just to fill it with 1 litre. The starter motor was in the way. I just squeezed the top half of each bottle from below. Is there a handier way to fill it?

I think that Stuey posted a picture of a simple oil filler pump a few months back on one of the gearbox oil threads :)

I used a large syringe 100ml, if you know a cattle or dairy farmer they will have used ones.

No problems with these http://landroveroneten.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/transfer_box_bottle.jpg

After seeing the picture I made a tool from a large syringe that i had and a bit of pipe. I'm going to double check it tomorrow if the weather is ok.
Does anyone know the capacity. I filled it till it started coming out but when I drained it originally there seemed to be more than I could put in.

I think it's a total of 1.1L of oil but make sure the car is level when filling. I used a hose with a funnel and filled it in from above through the engine bay without a problem...

As I changed it I filled abuot 1,3L

I got about 1.3L into mine too. Mine is a BIS. That may make a difference?? I used Castrol 80w-90.
I was talking to Stewart Walsh (Fiat specialist) and he said that 80w-90 is good but the best stuff is 90 but is hard to get and he can't remember who makes it.
