Title: Noisy Themostat.

Once the thermostat on my air cooled opens it plays a tune like hell.
Not really a problem until i open the heating duct, then what a racket!
Is this normal on air cooled engines?
Phew, nearly there on this car.

it sounds like the flap is rubbing against the thermostat housing and making a lovely noise strip the thermostat  and the flap and check that it has got washers separating the flap from the housing and that  nothing is bent and catching its a simple fix sometimes the front engine tin does this when it fails too.
