Title: loss of power
Post by: alapimba on June 04, 2012, 10:57:12 AM
Hi

Yesterday i was driving my fiat 500 with 126 engine and i was at about 90/100KM/h and i just lost power of the car to about 50/60 km/h, i tried to drive it slowly for a while to see if the problem fixed alone but no luck. i just put the car on idle and when i put again in 3rd gear i were no able to go further and had to trail it back home :(

what can be wrong? i have the engine with basicly everything new, and i have been using it for more then 3000km now, i had a few problems in the beguinning with blown head gaskets because the head was very low but now i'm running with std cylinder head.

When i opened the engine compartment the sparks wires were connected but out of his suport and in contact with the exhaust melting... it didn't melt more then 1mm of rubber. Do you think this is the reason or i have another headgasket blown?

I already ordered a spark cable new but while it don't reach my house to test... whats your opinion? :(

Regards

Could be ht lead, sounds like a blocked fuel filter to me though. I had no end of trouble with mine doing that, it got to the stage I was having to replace the filter every 100 miles (160km?)(bit less in the end). Replaced the fuel tank, sorted.
