 excellent ... any photos of the dashboard radio ?

centre of the dash standard position..

you might find you get a better sound out the sub if it was inclosed in a box
-
its going to have one with a rubber seal round the top the self will come down and seal it :D
-
you will not achieve any thing by using what you described as the air will leak out between the rubber seals and stop the movement of your sub . i used 2x8inch subs before on a bis sitting in the "boot space" in a custom built box , and a under seat sub which i dont think are made anymore (mondeos had them ).the best thing to do is make yourself a big nasty install to put it all in. i have today put in two twelves sitting in separate boxes (sealed) (sony 1200w)1x 600w 4channel amp (using 2 bridged)kenwood , 1x 200w amp (jbl) to power speakers, 1 pair of infinity 6x9 full range , 1 pair of kenwood 13cm (150w)3way . into the doors.headunit is a sony 2 pre outs:plus sub channel cd mp3 4x50w , i have also wired up a series of blue leds around this build to light up various points . i only did it today because of boredom and i had all this gear sitting in my garage , the problem with installs in this car are you cannot upgrade the alternator (no room) , so you drain the battery too easily as it isnt up to much in the first place .i killed one driving from wales to london with my old stereo on .by london i had no indicators no wipers , nothing !! i shall play with what i have put in today for a while then take it out as to be honest these cars dont need entertainment , they are the entertainment. stay cool , mick bis13 ps i will post some pics tommorow .

 Excellent ... what's the brand of your sterring wheel !
-
the steering wheel is by Mountney, it is the same size as the original only it feels a lot better being leather. I also have a polished stainless steel gear knob, only problem is i have to remember that reverse is in a different place to usual :) i can't remember what make it is but it is italian and it is not Momo, and it is of very high quality and pretty heavy.

a closer picture of my CD player:

there's a guy/firm that is selling wheel bosses that have a 126 listed as fitting, they're a pretty good price, will take a Momo wheel and quite a few other wheels you can find on ebay, i have a Ferrari 308 horn push to fit that is you want it for your 126 as both the 126 and 308 are rear engined cars made by subsiduries of Fiat :) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Boss-Hub-Kit-Fiat-126-127-147-Fiorino-Panda-Seat-131-et_W0QQitemZ8076820708QQihZ019QQcategoryZ40195QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I know this is a really old post, but looking to put speakers in my car without cutting up the door cards, was just wondering where you got those speaker boxes from ?

I spent ages installing my headunit and amp. Then I couldn't find anywhere to put the speakers... So took the whole lot out.
I'd rather have no audio than have ables and holes everywhere!

Hi Sam,
Do you have an Aircooled or a Bis? You have a bit more room in the back with a Bis.
I have an aircooled with head rests in the back but I have still managed to fit two 6x9's in the back and two 8x8's in the front. The speaker boxes are easy to get off the net or any motoring shop that sells audio as well, just shop around a bit because I found some at a rip off for £20 each and then got mine for £5 each in the end.
Halfords will have them in different sizes but might not be the cheapest.
Also finding somewhere to fit them can be a nightmare. I used short self tapping screws into the back of the wheel arch in the end. ::)
If you don't have space for a sub you need 4 speakers really as the car is so loud you will end up blowing a pair.
I'll post some photo's when I see my car again.

On an air-cooled, that small area behind the back seat looks like enough to put three 6x8 or 6x9s width-wise. I was thinking about installing 4-ways, a moderate amp, two under-the-dash 3-way round speakers, and a head unit. Is the alternator powerful enough to support this? Does this sound feasable to you guys?
-
Hi Abiella
I have an Aircooled and planning to fit headunit, speakers in the front(without cutting the door cards up) and 6x9s on the parcel shelf, i would like speaker boxes in the front like in bruce's car, but cant seem to find any, and planning to make some sort of mdf raised parcel shelf or boxes for the 6x9s, also going back to guy2yourlefts question, having a set of 4 speakers and a headunit should be fine im sure, just as long as you dont have them on for long periods at a time, otherwise you will start to lose indicaters and headlights, not sure about an amp tho.

I picked those speaker mounts/boxes up many years ago. They where actually meant to be mounted on the parcels shelf to save cutting up original car parts, they come fromt he 70s or 80s when cars started to have more than one speaker.
-
Here is the little set up I had in my BIS daily driver before it sold.
Marc
-
Marc, where did you get those seats?
Marc
-
they was standard in poland... on export was same like Yours.... tones of them in Poland....
-
Marc, where did you get those seats?
Marc
Hi Marc,
They were from my 1980 air-cooled and will be back in it as soon as its sprayed. Just looked better than the BIS seats.
marc
-
Cool, how similar are they to BIS seats?
-
Cool, how similar are they to BIS seats?
Fronts fit just fine, rear mmmm a little bit more tricky as you have to take your BIS one apart to fix the plastic boot trim onto it. But it worked ok?

Seems a touch antisocial to me.
-
It is a way of dealing with (too) much engine noise :D
-
Love the way he's put all those subs in and a retrim and then left the original speaker grill in the dash...
-
Thats insane! I wonder how he keeps the windows on the car... Perhaps plexiglass?
-
I have regular Kenwood tape player, 2 2-way speakers in front, 40w power, and 2 3-way speakers in back, 50w power. I was searching for speakers like these http://ak1.ostkcdn.com/images/products/6695847/Pyle-3.5-inch-200-watt-3-way-Weatherproof-Box-Speakers-Pair-P14249182a.jpg and it have very nice sound. No need for more, my radio have 40 for volume maximum , and I can play just 25-30 because is way too loud.
-
all those speakers are more powerfull than the engine.
-
Met many Fiat 126 with Safari 5 in, without cassette player and only one speaker to the right ;)
