Title: Headlights (again)
Post by: Hazey-n-Marc on March 18, 2012, 01:40:27 PM
Just found this, http://www.dual-metallising.co.uk/reflectors.html , Has anyone had this done? Seen a quote of 70 quid a pair for rechroming a pair of volvo headlights.

Fantastic find. I did not know such a company existed. In my mind, this website is probably worth keeping for future reference. Many thanks!

I would assume doing larger amounts would work out cheaper per pair. Might be time to start stockpiling corroded lights.

I have three pairs! Plus another pair of corroded headlights from my blue Bis.

The corroded bits are the easy bits to buy, its the glass lenses that are getting hard to find.

Can't really see the point of getting the the reflectors re-mirrored when you can buy a pair of LHD light units with H4 Halogen bulb fitting from 126Fan for 28 Euros plus postage, instead of using the black beam deflectors you can use chrome tape to block the LHD uplift or you can rotate the bulb so you can get a flat cut off beam.

I got an advisory on last year's MOT for a cracked offside headlight lens and as it's almost that time of the year again I finally got round to fitting the new old stock RHD headlights that Dajwid kindly sold me last summer.

Apart from the cracked lens, the offside unit was in pretty good condition but the nearside light (which didn't look too bad from the outside) literally fell apart in my hand as I tried to get it out - before and after photos attached, together with the nearside reflector which I think might just be beyond saving...
