Yes it happened today , Shock , Horror :o
Seems I have managed to finaly wear out my two old front tyres but the shock came when the guy told me that my nearside king pin was shot. I had a look and could hardly believe the play especialy as it was fine last year, don't do a huge mileage and grease the king pins regularly. No major problem for me as I have all the bits and have reconned a few stub axle assemblies recently. I was more interested in what had happened to the existing bits. Normal king pin wear is on the pin and bushes but it turned out that all of the play was between the pin and the stub axle housing which is a bit wierd as they are supposed to be a tight fit locked in with a self locking pin. My only theory is that because the roads are so bad around here in good old leafy Bucks and I have hit some "ball busting" pot holes that it has distorted the stub axle housing as ther is no play on the pin in the bushes >:(

Sorry to hear that. It really is frustrating (i had problems at the MOT with new brakes). I've got the same problem with the kingpins on mine. Repaired 4000kms ago, greased regularly, steering's fine but the front right one already has play in it (yes it's because of the bad roads :( ).

All back together and MOT pass this morning :D
Picture of the offending part and the replacement assembly with the disc brake plate fitted. Wanted to paint it black but had run out of that colour so had a choice of red , blue or gold hammerite :$

Well done! The MoT of my yellow Bis is due on the 21st! Annoyingly, I always get an advisory re slight movement in the front wheels.

I am worried now as I think my chrome plated starter motor is going to clash with the gold and I really wanted to use something pink an fluffy for the fan belt ;D
