It appears the 8balldiner is doing a retro rides night on the 18th August - this Thurs coming... Anyone fancy meeting up?

I think markymarc posted this as well. I would love to come but it is on a weekday. Does the event extend to the weekend? Try to go the Retro Rides. A number of members will be there!

D'oh, just read the main thread, like the big, bold one at the top... lol! Gloucestershire?? Wow, don't think I can make that in either car, that's while I still have two and haven't fully committed to a 126-only driving life!

Oh, good heavens! Just put it into Google maps... it's nearly bloody Wales!!! :o It reckons it'll take me 3hrs and 19 mins - that's not counting for the 60mph max speed, the poorly gearbox, the noise and lack of stereo, and most importantly the random slalom across the country as I'll have no sat nav as there's no cig lighter to power it! I might make it by the weekend after lol! ;D ;D ;D

There are 2 choices for anyone close to the 8-ball diner -
Retro-rides night is the fisrt Thursday of the month (next one 1st Sept)
Italian night is the first Friday of the month (next one 2nd of Sept)

Sorry for the late reply! ... been a mad week!
Well, I'm currently making plans to stick the car on axle stands for the forseeable as the gearbox needs to be dropped and sorted out... but the thought of making it out to the 8ball on Thurs... hmm, I'm sure it could make it there and back okay...
It would be so great to meet up (with the car as well!)!
What time are you thinking (hoping!) of getting there?

It states from 6.30 but I would prob look at 7ish, don't want my burger repeating on me all night lol
Im in coventry for work from wednesday so does really depend on journey back!!

I would like to say sorry to everyone as somewhere along the line I messed up and got it all wrong!!
But Italian night is DEFO 2nd september (tommorow) which if work don't mess me about I will be at and if anyone goes feel free to throw things at me..........

I made it over to the 8ball this eve, no real problems to report back on! Even had the unbelievable moment of being able to overtake someone on the A12!! Amazing, I know! :P He must've been travelling at 50mph, as I was only doing 55 and I was gaining on him, fast...not a situation I thought I'd encounter in a 126! I must admit, did a happy dance in the car once I'd passed him lol!
LOL, no worries on the mess up! It was good to catch up with blackbird and see some cool VWs! There weren't too many folk there yet, as things apparently kick off a bit later in the eve and I had to leave before it got too dark, due to those lights...! Nice place though, will go again.
I'd love to be able to make it tomorrow, but there's no chance as far as I can see. :( Friday's are always rubbish for getting out for me. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are my best eves to get out and meet up.
Hopefully meet more of you lot soon! :D

Now I feel really bad u both went, no wonder my ears were burning all night!! I went on the retro ride site & it says its the "3rd" Thursday of every month!!

Seriously though, not a problem! It was good to get out in the car as I'd been getting a bit down about its problems, and also to know where the 8ball is (despite getting a tad lost - yes, I can get lost on the A12 (as well as in a paper bag)!).
But I do know of a nice little Robin for sale... ;)

Well I attended the Italian night and had a nice time, good bunch of folks there (nice to meet 126blackbird) food service wasn't the fastest in the world!! It was also a shame as many didn't turn up, I think all the other forums have got one of those idiots that tells everyone its on a different night.........................DOUH!!

I see there's another Retro rides night at the 8 Ball Diner this Thursday (15th) coming. I recon I will attend this one if only to see the mad petrol heads eating burgers :P

I'm *hoping* to leave home about 6.30 so *should* get there about 7ish. This all depends on battery power and whether I'll need a jumpstart to get going! Oh, and of course, no hill starts...!

Pop'd down to the 8 Ball Diner and had a milkshake and a game off pool. This place is so cool. 8)
Lina was there with a bright blue 126," sorry to here about your gearbox but you sound you'll have the problem solved soon enought. Some mad guy turned up in a Green racing car with a bike engine straped to the front, yes Blackbird you know who I mean. That is one owesome machine.
Nice to meet more 126 people and hope to see you all again some time soon. :D
