Title: Hi all!..
Post by: Emin on May 18, 2011, 08:46:39 PM
Hello dear 126 fans!

I am Emin from Istanbul. I'm considering a 126 (aircooled or water-cooled?) for a while, so my internet search ended here. This is such a great forum on 126s, i have been reading everything for days. So it's time to become a member for me. Unfortunately i couldn't find a compehensive local forum let alone a forum as rich of information as this. I am so glad!..

Fiat 126's were imported to Turkey in 1990 and 1991 both aircooled and watercooled, i guees a total of some thousands. So, it is possible to find plenty in several conditions from wreck to mint. Parts-wise i am not sure there are problems but since it is so cheap to run 126s, most of them are still running somehow.

My intention is to find one solid but needing some TLC, de-hole the doors and put chrome bumpers for a start. Then i will probably keep it as a second car but actually as my main car since distance to work from home is just five kms, first car (decent and safer, no offence) goes to wife :).

Hope to post pictures when i raise the funds and acquire one.
Best Regards,

Emin

Hi Emin, Welcome to the forum :)

Thank you for your kind words, As you have gathered members on our forum help each other out with information and know how, The air-cooled 126's were made up to 2000 so new parts are still available, Some engine parts for the Bis water-cooled are getting a little hard to find unless like in the U.K. there are plenty of second-hand parts available, Which ever one you decide to buy I'm sure you will enjoy driving it ;D

Hello and welcome to the forum. I have been to Istanbul on business on numerous occassions but unfortunately, never got the chance to see any 126. Spare parts for the 126 are not a problem. Should you need expert advice on 126s whether it be aircooled or watercooled, you have come to the right place. Good hunting!!! Please let us know how you get on.

Cheers!

There are lots of 126s but mostly found in suburbia. You can find some here in local fleabay:
"http://www.sahibinden.com/search.php?a=8&&b[search]=fiat&b[page]=1&b[sort_field=date_first_activated&b[sort_order]=desc&c2=90424&c=90424&sGaleri=1"

İ am considering this one for water-cooled:

And this solid-looking aircooled:
http://www.sahibinden.com/ilan/vasita-otomobil-fiat-cok-temiz-bakimli-fiat-126-bis-fms-44385536/detay/
To give an idea, asking prices are nearly 1100 and 1350 Pounds. Within 120 ads these are most reasonable and clean-looking ones. Hope to sort things out within some weeks.
