Title: Stanford Hall, Auto Italia 5th June

Hi all, anyone able to get to this show?? Beautiful setting..be great to have a line up eh! It's a Sunday, postcode is: LE17 6DH.
Probably a mission for most unless you're midlands based.

I normally take my Intergrale, my fiat would never make it! (it still hasnt got an engine in it  :P )

I went to this event last year. It was a bit of a drive for me but was worth it. There were only two 126s that day, Ciaoflyer and myself. Both of our cars were directed to park at the concourse with the rest of the exotic Italian cars - it was a great honour. Most of the cars in the concourse won prizes. We posted some photos last year. There was no racecourse or a museum like Brooklands but it was a good day out nevertheless. I shall go again this year but would bring my twinny if no other 126s are coming.

Well Mr clooney.........I can tell you now that if the weather is good I will be there and Im sure "foca" will manage the 131 miles to get there no problem!!

Lets hope for a better turn out, maybe you boys further north will show us southern nancy boys how to make an effort?!

hey guys, i spoke to one of the organisers (Phil Ward) and he's said he can arrange an area for our 126's alongside the river, so anyone going should tell the marshalls you're displaying rather than land up in the parking fields next door!  gates open at 8:30 so i'll hopefully be there by 9..If you've never been its a lovely setting so fingers crossed for the weather!  Lets make it a good un  :D :D

OK I am hoping to give this one a go . I have got a slipping clutch at the moment but pretty sure it is down to oil from the gearbox getting on to it. Planning to do a 90 mile round trip in the morning so that should be a good test  ::)

Set off this morning and noticed a distinct change in the exhaust note after about a quarter of a mile so pulled over and discovered that i had no exhaust tail pipe anymore. So went back and and recovered the missing bit. Shall I carry on I thought, answer yes, only another eighty-nine and three quarter miles to go.  :$
The tailpipe had sheared away including the internal baffle in the exhaust so the noise was a bit like a Subaru firing on two cylinders  ;D
Anyway made the round trip and had some clutch slip but If I sort the exhaust I reckon that Stamford Hall is on   :)
Will post in the tuning section about the reason for my morning trip.

Darrell I guess you posted that link because of the chat we had about welding exhausts. Well the failure confirmed what I said before that the metal some of these exhausts are made from is very poor quality and all of my welds held up fine. Still I learnt a lesson , carrying out even minor mods is a waste of time as it is a bit like trying to build a castle on sand. Anyway I got another 126 exhaust down from the old loft , probably got it on eBay and have been having a bit of a 'mare with it ! It was the worst fitting exhaust I have ever had on a 500 or a 126. I managed to get one of the supprt brackets on after a massive struggle & have given up on the other one  :cry:

rusty be very carefull using just one bracket as it will just send all the stress and vibrations to the one bracket and that will fail, the best results ive had of late is to make my own brackets using some 5mm flat steel so much more up for the job than the crap on the market.

I agree with Mick.

ANY room to vibrate will result in a broken exhaust.

I have run the same exhaust now for 3 years. I make sure the clamp is 100% tight, it needs to be clamped right down onto the silencer.

Give it an opportunity to rattle itself to bits and it will.

Hope you get sorted Uncle..sounds like a testing time and a long journey if you do make it!  Looking forward to catching up with you all..don't forget to take the second gate for display rather than parking areas and mention Phil Ward if you need to as he said he could find us an area to park up together.. he asked to put mine in the concours display but I'll see..

 I really wanted to do this show, and the car is actually booked in for an MOT tomorrow morning. Unfortunately it`s not looking promising as I`m having a nightmare with the brakes.  :(

OK you guys have twisted my arm and I managed to get the second exhaust bracket on , sort of  :$
Plus the front main support for the sunroof had taken a turn for the worst and had massive corrosion to the extent that the near side section had parted company with the main structure and fliped up at the front above 30 mph so a rain shower would have been a real problem. So sorted that today as well and green-fly you will be pleased to hear that I had a brand new one in my trusty loft  ;D

  :D unbelievable rusty!! What a nightmare! I'd b disappointed if you didn't have..I think there are several new (old) 500's cars up there too!! Think you're gonna win best effort for show attendance! Unless of course your chassis parts company on the way!!  :D, bless u,have a good journey..

Yes we are out there  ;D
The prize has to go to K666STW who drove his Bis down from Fife in Scotland and the booby prize to Amateb8 who did not come in his Bis . I think that Green-fly was about to set his dogs on him but showed restraint  :)
markymarc was well into the impulse buying & last time I saw him he was wearing a nice little black with pink polka dot shift dress , not sure if he had the ankles for it though  :$
Pete , as ever was a star , helped me round the site , knowing that I was awaiting my next hip flask replacement  ;D

Hey guys, good to chat, good to see you all there and I hope you are all home safe.
Currently relaxing in my little pink polka dot number rusty with ears ringing from some silly idea to put a BIG exhaust on a 126!!

Great to meet and greet Pete (lovely little red BIS) The vicar of dibly (sweet old school looking 126)
Rab C nesbit (who was brave enough to come from bonny Scotland) Mr & Mrs Clooney of course (stuck with the common people rather than be in the concours) And last but not least Mr Bellamy (or is that stan boarman and his terrible jokes?)

If i have missed anyone im sorry as my mind is bad..............and my hearing now!!

What a great day out, Good to meet up with you guys and put names and faces to user names ;D A big Thankyou to Stewart who helped organised the FF stand and drove down from Fife 400 an odd miles in his Bis, Have a safe journey home tomorrow,
Just like to thank the organisers of the FiatForum for the food, and making us welcome on there stand :thumbup

Hey guys,glad you all got back ok! Good to catch up with some new faces and not so new! Rustys on form I see again! Amateb8,don't worry I've called the dogs off and we've all forgiven you! Seen the nice pogmobil and the moosemeister!
Thanks for the pics Pete, great view downwards on the most expensive cars at the show   ;D  marks scorpion left the show quickly burning off a ferrari I noticed,probably why your ears were hurting as he was trying to catch you up!
We hit several rain showers on the way home so next time I'm bringing clingfilm or maybe my carcoon adapted to be driven along in :D

Made it home.
The little bugger never missed a beat and fears about the HG thankfully turned out to be misplaced.  I've never seen so many 126s in one place before, it surely was a treat for the eyes.

Good to put a few faces to user names, even if every single 126 there made mine look bad.  :(

My friend , you are a true inspiration making that trip , the cars are meant for driving & if they breakdown it is because there is something wrong that needs to be fixed. If you have a unique specimen like green-fly then you may not want to put too many miles on the clock but the rest of you guys & gals have no excuse, Get your motor running & head out on the highway  ;D

It was a great day out. I have been going to this event four years in succession and most of the time, I was the only 126 but met Ciaoflyer last year. The one year I opted to take another Italian car, six 126s turned up! Anyway, passed by to say hello and have a chat to the guys. Green-fly's 126 is as I remembered it, lovely! We stayed a bit longer until they gave out the awards.

Some great photos that remind me of a great day and line-up. Have to say I like my little retro racer but really love petes little red number. Doing away with the side trim makes a big difference and i also need to know what the coil looking item is in the engine bay and what it does?

Love the Black 127 in the show line-up last year aswell.

My baby is staying local this week as West Mersea show is about a 30mile round trip instead of nearly 300!!

Just need to work out (yeah, right) why POG decides to play up (misfiring and losing power) when I am driving rather exuberantly - like he did on the way home, naughty boy!

Hi Mark that's the electric petrol pump. 5 X 126's all in one place MAGIC, But should beat that number at Retro Rides Weekend in August where we can all have a few Beers and relax a bit more :P

Wow,some great pics there Pete..did you get one of the beige 500 in the concours? I'll try and upload the couple I took..stunning car..my blue roll didn't stop that wind slamming my bonnet shut! Oops  :$

I closed your bonnet as it blew down twice while I was near your car and I thought that it might be putting a bit of undue stress on the hinges. The lady with that 500 won the prize for best pre 1970 Fiat in show. She is Scotgirl500 on the fiat500club.org.uk site & forum & it must have been a bit of mutual admiration as she has posted pictures of our cars there  :D

thanks rusty, meant to say when I came back from walk about as it was fine while we were with cars and then the wind picked up and I saw from a distance it had been closed..
thanks for info on fiat 500,I'll look into the car on their forum  ;)
