As you may have read (discusted or not) I chopped up my little 126 and turned it into a trailer.
It was originally to be a towable BBQ but decided it was probably more desirable just as a trailer for shows and the like as the boot space isnt exactly huge in the 126.
Indicators do just that job. Side lights are still side lights and full beam is now brake lights. All working.
Bonnet is now opened with a lever on the wing.
So anyway, its just too small and low on the back of my truck and just a bit heavy for my bike so here it is for sale.
Looking at offers, Stuck it on Gumtree at £300 so close to that would be a step in the right direction.

What are the wheels? Banded 12"?
-
I'm interested but I'm currently away at sea and won't be able to collect until mid-late June. Would you be able to keep hold of it until then?
-
Wheels are just standard wheels turned inside out, not safe to be towed like this I wOuldnt think as hole and stud are both raised edges meaning it's hard to keep the studs tight, it does look cool like banded steels though. Because lt has no brakes on it the wheels sit in the arches further than standard.
Yes I would keep it till mid-late June with a holding deposit.
-
Now sold and off to its new home, Was a good wee project!
-
No it wasn't :(
-
I agree with Rusty
-
i thought he was taking the p*** in the first place anyhow as i thought this forum was for keeping the 126 on the road not in the garden as a barbecue.... but alas to say even this "project" ended up as all others do as being sold on ebay as a "great chance to purchase my lovely project as i have just nearly finished it but due to......" we all know the story!
-
A real waste of a good car, and from my own namesake too ... for shame!
-
I am with you guys as well. I am quite glad that other members felt the same. It was absolutely shameful. Made worst by the fact that there are so few UK 126s left on the road.
-
'Butchered' by a non 126 appreciator! sad!
-
I find this a tricky subject, as it was with the 500 club.
Ownership, is not a gaurantee of preservation. People are allowed to make their own choices with the items they have bought with their own money.
While I don't agree with the idea of turning a restorable car into a bbq/trailor, there is no warning upon joining the club that this is not accepted.
If these projects are to be discouraged by the club, then it needs to be mentioned well in advance to allow other members to leave or not join at all as applicable.
-
Good point Michael! ;)
-
We were all kind of aware of your point, hence none of us said anything at the onset. At some point, Fraz13 knew he was going to get some backlash from members, and he did! We were simply voicing out our displeasure of what was done and for good reason. I am sure there will be more of these type of "projects" in the future. Hopefully, we can dissuade owners from embarking on projects similar to this. Anyway, this is just my opinion.
-
At the end of the day, it was his choice what he did with his car. What annoys me most is that he's destroyed the car and then decided it wasn't worth it and sold it off. An absolute waste of a good car tbh.
-
Seen far to often on this site! I'm going to make a trike, bike engined car, BBQ. Strip all all the bits down start cutting then decide they no longer wish to carry on then eBay or scrappy!
I think what made this one worse was the fact it was a very solid looking car there's people on here spent many of hours and hundreds/thousands of pounds getting there cars in similar sort of condition. Still im
Not fussed it makes my car even more rare and unique ;-) ???
-
No Amateb8, I do not think there will be a lot more of these projects in the future , not using right hand drive cars anyway. You all know the reason why !
THe value of the cars has gone up considerably in the last few years and with these new figures about the number of surviving cars, which all seems to be true if you read Practical Classics (nice one markymarc by the way) , then the rarity value can only drive that up further . Look at the number of people who come on the forum looking for a car and the number of watchers you get when a car is on eBay.
As for MIchael, well look at the time he posted on a Friday night. He would have been well into his bottle of 20 year old Glen Bagpipe by then and was probably overcome by a nasty bout of political correctness ;D
Michael has got the largest collection of angle grinders ever to be smuggled south of the border and he just likes cutting things :$
As for rules etc. How many times have you all done things on the internet and you get the message. "To continue check the box after you have read the 20 pages of terms & conditions". You don't do you you just click the box & get on with life ;)
-
Rusty, your jealousy of my angle grinders is something we shall have to discuss at a later date!
And that 20 yr old bottle of Glenbagpipe is highly over-rated, the 12 yr old Hoots mon is a more discerning choice!
-
Haha you guys crack me up.
Yes it was a good shell, infact it was so good I did think about moving it on but what would it have been worth as it was MOT and Taxless? A few hundred quid? What would have I got for that to replace it with? A rot box to spend countless hours welding, filling and fixing up as well as paint to make it look good, cost me a fortune for what? Na I decited just to use what I had, easier and cheaper in the long run, and in the end up it ended up making me money. The engine and box, doors, interior and brakes all went on to keeping other cars on the road so you should all be happy with that. As for the other parts I still have, they will see the inside of the big skips tomorrow, Shame eh!! Also as for not completing the project, it was completed as a trailer as the bonnet opened the wrong way for the BBQ idea to work. Not all of the car is away, I still have the back which is in paint at the moment, 2 small pieces of surface rust the size of a 1p piece on a rear arch and should be home and in place in my living room by next week as a novelty couch for the kids to sit next to my V8 table I built.
I am sorry for upsetting some of you but you really need to get a life and stop being so pathetic about a piece of metal, Anyone would have thought I commited murder haha I am a car lover although I bet you dont believe me but I dont care, I joined the forum as I thought some of you may be interested in some parts and to see what I was doing, in no way did I come on here to wind you up, If I dont get deleted for being a 126 hater (which Im not) i will delete all my posts and leave you all to it. Just to say though, It WAS a good project, I thoroughly enjoyed doing the job and would not hesitate in doing it all again and if that was to use another 126 I would. The new owner of the trailer was very happy with it and I would hope he gets plenty of use out of it. My kids really looking forward to his new couch coming and I and looking forward to it as well. All the best. The End!!!
-
Tit! :P
-
I couldn't care who does what with their property, given some 4.6 million were made, I'm sure there are plenty left anyway. Think how many cars get written off pointlessly every year?
-
The guy joined the site to wind people up, and managed to do just that.
I am amazed someone paid £150 for the dodgy looking trailer.
I am also making a trailer so can't comment too much :$ but mine donor car was totally rotten, see my old thread.
I gave away many of the bits from the car, the front end was useless so Mr scrappy got that minus everything of any use.
-
If its rotten, and there's a possibility of making use of what's salvageable then ok. Even more so, if your doing it for yourself! 8)
-

^^ WHS.
Ultimately it was Fraz's car to do what he pleases and to call someone a "tit" because of it is a bit steep really. It's also not a very friendly vibe to be giving off as a forum as a whole. It is a shame to see a car cut up, don't get me wrong, but Fraz did create some spare parts to keep the other cars going and also created something that was really quite cool. I was quite tempted by myself, just wasn't in a position to collect. I think it would have looked really cool behind my 126.
-
Ha ha it ended-up making money :P
What a load of old cobblers considering an average air cooled with MOT etc goes for about 2k, more for real good ones!
All that needed was a bit of TLC and it would have got that. It even had selling points like disc brakes worth like £1000 from some suppliers.
His loss my gain, my car is now rare-er.
These projects are about as much of a laugh as the average wheeler-dealers stuff on tv where they 'make' £200.....what about tha labour etc etc?
PS. it didn't wind me up, it winds my car's price up! :P
I don't care, I agree he's a tit :P A tit with a couch that even kids will grow out of :P ;D
Do another project mate
We need our investments to go up a bit more :-
-
I am finding it hard to keep abreast of this thead as my mammary is not so good these days :$
Anyway to change the subject I thought you might like to see the spare toilet roll holder in my bathroom. It was a new & unused original 695ccs Abarth Esse Esse engine. I just threw away all the unwanted bits and it does a great job ;D
What do you think I hope I did not drop a boob ;)
-
;D ;D
Abarth bog roll holder, fantastic!!
-
Hahaha I wonder if it helps you go any quicker :-X :P
-
Or has the occasional misfire :$
-
Tit indeed lol Dont you just love the keyboard gangsters on the net..
Thanks to the few with the decency to oversee the clowns in the background, Feel free to pop in and call me a tit to my face next time your in the Glasgow area, I would love to hear from you!!!
Anyway, I will repeat that I DID NOT mean to cause offence to anyone on here and yes your cars are a bit rarer now.
i paid £250 for the car, sold the engine for £230, the doors and interior for £70, The brakes for £100 and the trailer for £325, You do the maths!!! I did have other bits but there binned now.
Anyway, The forums sucks baws, was good to help a few people out with parts and met a few that were very pleasant and nice to deal with in the process. There are, like all forums, a few cocks that think there the dogs bollocks, probably licked a few anyway that spoil it for others. Yes I chopped up a fantastic shell, So what? It was mine, it cost me nothing, made money and thats that. Yes it would have been worth more as a whole on the road but thats not what I wanted it for. Just understand that and stop being so nasty about it all.
OK I think its about time if theres any moderators on here to close it down and you can all bitch at your next meet.
-
Oooo the tit calling the cocks nasty! :$
Come Retro Rides, all us 'keyboard gangsters' be there. ;D I have no problem with saying anything to anyone's face and no I don't need anyone to back me up.
By my maths you're still a tit coz you could have got 2k for it! Which by my maths is a loss of earnings of over £1000. You did no-one any favours by selling the parts, you were paid for them!! Almost certain all this involved collecting and trips to the skip, some mucking about selling/posting and time with your favourite tool the angle grinder. All these costs etc not mentioned.
So while this clown might not understand the 'it's my toy and I'll do what I want to attitude' my opinion....which is what often gets voiced on a forum, is what I have voiced.
So dear friend, if you don't want comments good or bad, don't put it up on a forum and don't cry moderator when opinions are voiced.
-
hello everyone hows things ive been offline for a while.....anyone fancy coming to glasgow for a barbie? oooh sorry its been sold... FRAZ13 the sole error you made is that this is a forum for enthusiasts of the fiat 126 CAR not BARBECUE if you wish to do that to your property then thats fine but please dont think its a good idea to post "look at my cut up 126 aircooled barbecue trailor" as its not big and not clever, as for the spare parts as darrel said you sold them (no favours there to anyone but yourself pal).
as for inviting folk to "come to glasgow and say it to my face" well i am sure we shall all be rushing right now to do just that.....sorry but its not that we are all bricking it but have better things to do like lick arseholes :P. if you wish i could invite you to the isle of wight as i am sure the scenery would be far more pleasing than the local project.... i do have one question and that is do you live in a scrapyard or are you misinterpreting top gear as a house decor show?
-
Forum name is "CLUB126UK A forum for Fiat 126 owners" Nowhere does that say enthusiasts... Does it? no, I am a Fiat 126 owner, well half of one now, Still got a logbook in my name so that makes me entitled to come here and show anything I like to do with MY 126. Now if you "arseholes" that I need to lick to get any fun out of this forum dont like what I have done then thats your problem in my book, I have listed my project, I have made it and sold it, now in what way dioes that justify being called a tit in the first place? The car probably would be worth £2k but thats irrelevant, I didnt want it to make £1700, I wanted to chop it up and be creative. Sorry once again for upsetting this very vile and secret members only area. As for the "its my toy" comment, I seem to recall others saying that, so not my words. Im very tired with all this now, I am not a silly little boy calling on moderaters to stand up for me, I just feel its went on enough and its never going to end as you cant see where I am coming from, There crap cars anyway, I mean who in their right mind would drive a hairdrier that like it, the Trabant was a far better car. I am not interested in joing you and retro pooe, but I never started the name calling, bring it on if your really that stupit.
-
You right about it'll never end mate.
Pedantic as it may be it does say club126uk but it also says The website's mission is to assist Fiat 126 enthusists to share their Fiat 126 knowledge and to keep these great little motors running ', ON THE HOME PAGE!!! not chopping them up to make furnature.
I hope you remember to SORN that vehicle every year as you have the log book:P
The 'members only' area has not had a post since 17th May so don't worry this was a very public discussion, I am glad it is as hopefully it will put other's off making a tit of themselves.
I hope you are tired of this now and hope your possible new Trabant will meet with equal approval of the Trabant club, should one exist, should you decide on another barbaque.
They may in your mind be crap cars, I didn't expect any other opinion from you, one cannot express how much releif I get from knowing you will not be driving one.
Please note 'stupit' is spelt stupiD
-
Thanks Darrell! ;)
-
i love a happy thread!
-
with a not so happy ending! :(
-
Frazer , if I may be so formal , you are doing yourself no favours here . When you said the item had been sold and it was a "good wee project", I just said "no it wasn't". That was my own personal opinion based upon the fact that I would not have done that to a sound body shell. A couple of the guys also expressed a similar opinion which is their right and the first bad reaction came after your "toys out of the pram" reply with a dash of vitriol. Of course right minded people will support your right to do want you wish with what is your property but you must expect a bit of "enthusiast backlash" if you post it here.
Just walk away mate, safe in the knowledge that your project is now famous in a small world .
There is no mileage in dissing the cars as those of us that are fortunate enough to have owned and driven them will know what I mean.
So walk away , walk away , walk away
-
Well put Rusty, :thumbup :wave
-
Well said. You definitely hit the nail on the head!!
-
Oh my word. I'm beginning to regret paying for membership to this club. Unbelievable.
-
I dont mind the baklash, infact it actually find it funny how wound up your all getting (not reaction I wanted in the first place but seen as its only getting worse carry on) As for walking away, I dont think so, I will hang around and show more pics of my chopped up little car that was immaculate just to get the reactions untill I decide to leave.
Every thread I post has got alot of visits so obviosly people are curious, Lets see how many visits my posts get now ;)
I hope your all very uneasy with that thought.
Enjoy!
-
Just so as to keep you occupied, I will spend all the time I have today waiting for responses from the accountant, visiting your post ;D
-
So you dont have a proper job then? Just hang about the net like a freak creaming over 126's all day, Thats about right, Chug away, Chug away, Chug away!!!
-
Haha never has the pot calling the kettle black been more apt a saying.
I think it's a very good idea visiting this thread very often, keep it's popularity up, just to ward-off any future tits!
Hey ho accountant still not answering, looks like I'll be visiting this thread all day... ;D
Ooo look you're so popular! :P :P :P
-
Me cream over 126's, dont think so, never mind, away get a job, might let you see theres more to life than hanging around trying to wind me up.
Yeah you keep visiting, make yourself look more like a tit every time.
Done any work yet?
456 view to date..... looks like its a very popular thread :P

Very good detective, Now go read posts and threads, bet you dont find any with the pooe you lot have given me over a silly little piece of metal..... I get on with most people, very well infact, I understand your frustration about the 126 but tuff luck, its done and dusted, now grow up and give up. Oh and its FraSer, get it right.
Car details, Reg number M13RFA, Dodge Ram 5.2V8 Pick up, Black is that all? You have my phone numbwer at the start of the thread as well, Anything else I can help you with? Geez, /I must have commited murder huh!!!
-
Aw look what I found.... We can all be detectives you know....
http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=845890&highlight=
I bought this bike at a car boot fair blah blah blah
Now on Ebay, after thinking about it. I am better off with a 'normal' bike.
We all do it, ok you never chopped it up but it was a project you gave up on, Now where were we???
-
'I'm not wound-up'
'Geez' 'huh!!!' 'Silly little piece of metal' 'now grow up and give up. Oh and its FraSer, get it right'
If that is not the language of a wound-up person then...
This is turning out to be the best entertainment for months! :P
Hey FraSer McTit, the reason you probably havn't had abuse from any other forums you are on is you probably didn't cut-up a volvo, mk1 golf, astra, carlton, jaguar, mg rover, or whatever else you have become a member of :P
-
just came in from work and cant believe this thread is still smoking away nicely .....i feel a bit guilty that we have gave fraz13 such a grilling and i think that we should no longer drag him over the hot coals anymore .....i think we should take a note out of his book and latch on to our artistic sides and create something of our own i am just out to make some citroen xantia hydraulic shelving.
-
Unfortunately, i left the Fiat forum for a similar reason. One member took issue with absolutely everything i said, as if his sole mission was to try and prove what i had posted was wrong as if it was a big government conspiracy! In the end, i work too hard and didn't have enough time to reply to sad act abusive Internet addicts who seemingly have no job, or life. It was a shame because i posted a lot of pictures/videos regularly of both my cars and a lot of people enjoyed them. And now because of 1 members opinions, they've ruined it for me.
I'm not taking sides in this argument, but use this thread as an example and ask yourself if you overreacted and if so, where did it get you?
It's just a car, and some people own, restore and cherish them, others see them as no more than a form of transport, but ultimately, it's the owners choice to decide the fate of their own property.
-
my point is its fine if you want to do something "alternative" with a vehicle but to post something like a "barbie trailer and sofa" on a forum that is intended to help folk keep these cars on the road is at some point going to get a reaction, if fraz had kept the trailer then i suppose some of this thread would have never been written its just that its a common story of cars being cut up/modded and then sold off as soon as the "artist" realises the creation is a bag of pooe or will never be of any use.
i am guilty of helping in the winding up process however its only meant as a bit of a jest... fraz13 i would invite you to one of my barbies anyday just as long as you dont try to mod it! now back to my shelving....
