Looks great as a start, just needs a new interior ;D, all very retro apart from lots of red and something happened to the dashboard.
-
I've just seen this now - looks very nice. What's wrong with the dash? I'm quite interested in this one so all you experts out there, what should I watch out for (besides the rust). I did actually own a 1987 126 Brown until last month and had it for 19 years. Any advice appreciated.

Bottomline, the car is probably better than when it was new judging from what was done to the it. It will last another 10 to 20 odd years if you look after it. The selling price is quite good at £2K. It is also an aircooled, so lots of after market modifications are available.

19 years...you should be able to tell us stuff :P

Chug, the car looks great, if it's as good as described, Personally I'm not a fan of the red roof lining, seats seatbelts, red pinstriping on doors and dashboard. . but that is only my opinion,Dashboard has been modded.
What happened to your last 126??

Hi Guys
Thanks for the advice. I think I've now calmed down enough to write this. I did actually go for this lovely car and actually agreed a deal over and above asking price. The owner said he would prefer if I had it, rather than this bloke that had ranf for it, as it sounded as though I would look after it and not butcher it, blar blar blar!!! I phoned him back a day later (even though I gave him my telephone number if there were any problems) just to make sure everything ok as noticed it was taken off ebay now. He only told me that he'd sold it to someone else - B_RST@!D. As you can imagine I was mad, very mad and pi_ _ ed off to say the least. He didn't even bother to phone to say he made a mistake, I only found out when I rang. He said he was new to ebay (crap!) and didn't realise that if someone bid his asking price then it would automatically accept it. So now I'm looking for one similar restored and not just a paint job (like one I've seen lately) with crome bumpers rather than the plastic black bumpers (not sure what year the change from crome was made). Preferably with a 650c engine but everything else genuine. I know I'm asking a lot but am prepared to pay top dolar for one in similar condition. I'm even considering buying a BIS (shock horror!!!) to make do until I come across one of these little gems.
Unfortunately I'm not a mechanic but are tempted to buy a shell and learn. Any leads of any for sale would be much appreciated. Thanks for taking time to read my plight. :(

I have an 81 deville that I'm recomissioning. It's very original early 650 model.

Now back on eBay with an Italian stripe - oh yes, and an extra £1,500 on the price :o

Very expensive stripes >:(

A 126 trying to be a 500 :P
500 wheel and caps, whitewalls and the stripes...must have watched wheeler dealers! :P
Personally I wouldnt bother bidding after the last load of nonsence that went on.
Go for the '81 deville defender is re-comissioning, at least there'll be less nonsence [-/

Chug has gone one better than buying the wannabe 500. I'd run into some short term financial issues with a loft conversion and since I'd beaten Chug to it when I bought Tuxie in October, we came to a deal and it's now hers (Rusty, sorry I never got the chance to give you a spin in it).
I've never been so gutted about selling a car and my eldest daughter was in bits about it, so a few days later I was dumb enough to bid on a nearby BIS which I won sight unseen on eBay for £510 including a new MOT. Picked it up at the weekend and it's much tidier and more solid than the pics suggested, the previous owner spent several £1,000s over the past few years at Proiettis, including a full respray and mechanical work, although the interior is a bit tatty and the brakes need some work. Anyway, I drove it home through central London traffic and no overheating issues at all, despite a sticking throttle and binding handbrake so can't be all bad! Will give it a full service and sort the brakes at the weekend.
Typically enough, now that I've done the swap, the financial issues have eased off a bit and I could just about have afforded to keep Tuxie after all but I guess that's life and I'll see how I get on with the BIS.
