Finally done it, after 10 years of wanting one i finally bought a 126, a Polski Fiat 126p 650E in a strange luminous yellow to be exact!
Anyone who regulary checks ebay probably saw it. Drove it back home and the brand new exaust snapped off!! Good job replacements are cheap.
Planning on a rolling restoration with Abarth goodies.
Still getting to know it but would like to know what the switch below the rear seat is for, im guessing its for the heating system?
Looking forward to the change from Lancia (im used to the tears and tantrums of them so the fiat should be a breeze ::)

Car was left at the MOT station today so fingers and toes crossed!! Has anyone else found 135R12 tyres impossible to find? I went to ATS "that used to be a really popular size, no we dont do them" , Kwik fit "Is it for a trailer wheel?" , the scrap yard "12? are you kidding?" , the place in Bawtry that specialises in vintage tyres "No but we do the ones for Fiat 500 that are narrower" and NOTHING!!
I though the classic mini used the same tyres?!?
I really hope i get my MOT so i can get some UK plates on the car! Then i can move on to the cosmetics, im thinking electro clash grey with a red band. Any comments on this?

Hi and welcome. If you can't find 135-12 try fitting 145/70-12 or 155/70-12. I am running mine on 145/70-12 with no problems.

I'm sure I saw the right size tyres on Camskill website at pretty good prices, and yes the wee switch behind you is for the heater - open and closes the inlet from the toasty engine bay to release those lovely fumes :D

Passed the MOT and everything is now with DVLA so i can get a nice shiny UK number plate. E126 FSM would be nice if your reading this Mr DVLA!!!
My brother in law is currently doing a classic mini at the same time as me so bit of friendly competition on whos is going to be the best! All i need to do is work out how to tune the 650 engine to beat a 1300 cooper engine :-
We are both going for Electroclash grey but he is going with gloss black and chrome trim, should make for a cool road test!
Does anyone know if the Fiat 500 abarth alloys go straight on to the 126p?

Simples, the mini will win the race without HUGE investment, but the 126 looks so much better, turns more heads and is something just a bit different.

Took it out today for the first time :( (more of which can be read about in the help forum!!).
All the people i know that jumped on the classic mini band wagon are in awe of the 126 now 8)
Think there is something wrong with it though, people at the side of the road seems to fall about laughing when i drive past?!? Maybe the exaust has a high nitrus oxide output? </4
Now im getting closer to paint im starting to fancy black with matt black graphics :- too much choice!
Pleased with the reg number Mr DVLA gave me, i got the number plate of the beast (E666 ***) :yikes:

One more rant! WHY WHY WHY did fiat & Lancia use those stupid hopelessly brittle plastic screws on lights? :rant:
I've driven Lancia's for years as well as a few Fiat and they always break! I needed a rear light bulb today as one stopped working and guess what, top one came off no problems, the bottom one? Crunch and all i got was the head on the end of the scew driver >:(
After all that the bulb just started working again!!!!!!!!!

:D I've contemplated clear lenses, then a nice stainless self-tapping screw wouldnt look too far out of place.
Last time I ordered some i ordered a few extras of the plastic ones :oops:

i think it was a clever anti tamper device concieved well before its time!

I bought long stainless self tappers and it looks good no problems with heads breaking.
