Looking for a good 650 aircooled head, must have good  exhaust manifold threads etc.........Martin

If the threads are stripped why not just fit helicoils. It will give you a better end product & proberbly much cheaper than a replacement head if you do the work yourself  [-/

I have considered that but the two threads on the front of the engine have been drilled oversize and rethreaded to take a larger sized bolt in the past so that would have to be helicoiled oversize from standard. If a head with decent threads at a reasonable price was available it would put me back with the standard sized bolts. If i have to go down the helicoil route i will.........Martin

There are other thread inserts availiable that have a thicker wall, I have a couple of self tapper type for a repair I will be doing soon. I will dig out the info and post later.  No need to scrap the head.
