Title: Which van does the 126 fit in
Post by: thepuddlejumper on May 29, 2010, 12:06:26 PM
I have just bought a  126 kit car and need to transport it back to sunny Scotland.  I have seen other posts where they have transported 126's in the back of vans.  I need to collect soon please help.

I think you would be pretty safe with any medium size van, as long as the inside length is at least 3m. The clearance between the arches could be a problem with wider wheels, but you can always take a set of skinny wheels with you and change them over. I even had a 126 in a low roof Iveco Daily. Also have the Trani and Ducato maxi tested :)
Dont forget some ramps and straps. Let us know how you got on.

Sorry to haunt an old thread but then would a Bis have trouble fitting between wheel wells in the transit with the 13" wheels? (or sprinter for that matter, do van makers work to industry standard widths for pallets or anything?

Maybe i'm worrying over nothing, are standard Bis wheels wider?  :headscratch:

I think Sprinters/LTs are quiet narrow between the wheel wells. Transit would be a safer bet.
We also had a bis in the back of van and it was fine.

However loading can be a bit of a mission, so if the recovery cost on a proper transporter isn`t too expensive just do it that way.

It was a Ducato I pushed it in there. Also they fit in a Transet but you cant get out of the car (see recent thread re trip to Slovakia).

No problem even with 13 "tires.
The van is of course a Fiat
I guess there is no problem with other brands of buses but must be long base. Peugeot, Citroen and Fiat have the same base.
