Title: How to get hold of this colour in spray? 246?
Post by: Jan-in-UK on May 02, 2010, 10:10:55 PM
Is it at all possible? Some very old rest of a paint which came with my car says "fiat 246 - G.Tuffo". It is a kind of yellow, as my 126. Please advice if anyone can help.

I bought some cellulose paint from this place. Gave them the paint code for the green 126 and they were able to mix it up for me.
the spray can is a bit expensive in my mind, but you're going to struggle to find colour from an old code.

Try Halfords first, maybe even motorists discount centre (on Farnham Road near mine) but if not thtis place WILL mix you a can.

Sent them an email from Ebay, we will see. You know the story, I would need 2 cns the most so it makes no sense to order more paint and hunt for compressor and all this mess. Then even engine bay could be done 100% as i wanted :D

if you have a sample of the colour (ie. on part of the car) certain bodyshops will have a useful little device called a photospectrometer which will scan the paint surface and pull up a list of matching colours on a computer, you can also input search parameters like "fiat" and "non-metallic" for instance and it will find the fiat non-metallic colour nearest matching the scan.  maybe get them to spray a test card out of the paint you have to scan or just scan the cars paintwork if possible!

that will get you the right code, then just a case of getting it put in aerosol can...

Ask in any big motorist shop.
They show me list of all paints used by Fiat in the book and I tryied one (wrong lemon colour) and the second
paint was right cream (12f /400cc can). There is only few colours in data base so it should
not bee a problem to find right one.
.. The only problem is to match it with faded old paint but there is the way to polish and restore old paint a bit.
 [-/ Hope thats helps.

Try the chaps at Morelli. I wanted to buy touch up paint from Halfords (Code 205; Ivory Metoer) for my 126 Bis but was told that they could not mix this paint due to the lead content. My local Fiat dealer referred me to this company. They have special equipment that can mimic lead paints. Here is their web address.

I had a little look on the mipa site- http://www.mipa.de/mix4win_online/public/index.php/

there are 2 "246's"

one is the fiat italy colour-

Blu pole  (this is code 246a) a modern colour used on puntos etc

and the other is the fiat poland colour-

piaskowa tufo (this is just code 246) this is a beige/gold colour.

if that helps...
