Most people travel down on Friday, Saturday is a free day whether you want to lounge about with Stella :P or go on a road run [-/ There's plenty of interesting places nearby. A good one is the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
The Tickets are for the main show Day which is Sunday. If you pay in advance its £5.50 or £7.50 on the day Although I can't guarantee a place on the Club Stand unless members Pre-Book. Camping will be paid for at the Gate in the field opposite the Haynes Museum. The organisers have not posted the cost of camping as yet but as soon as i find out i'll post it up.

This is taken from the Retro Rides site, If your Camping Book the tickets Quickly as the organisers have set a limit of 250 Adults on the camping ground. Tickets are per person, under 16's are free. Click the link below to book Now.

We are really pleased to be able to announce the camping details for this year’s event. They are as follows

Friday and Saturday night £15 per person
Saturday night only £10 per person
Limited to 250 people
Camping will be available to pre-order after this weekend

So a little bit about how we get to those numbers and why they are what they are, in the pursuit of transparency:
One of our biggest costs is the facilities for the camping, in fact it is our single biggest cost, even with spending this we were underfacilitied last year, both in terms of toilets and the size of skip we had.

This year we've taken a different approach and worked out the cost per person, per night, having made some calculated guesses from Friday and Saturday attendance last year along with a slight uplift in expected visitors. Taking this number into account we've worked out the volume of skip and number of toilets required, found the most competitive price (whilst maintaining quality) and gone with that.

In which case you may wonder why the limit on attendance? Camping at the show has always been an added extra for Retro Rides people, clubs attending and those in the know. Each year we've done a show the camping has got larger, we've decided to limit it for two reasons, firstly if it gets too big we believe it'll loose the friendly relaxed feeling it has at the moment and secondly more camping will mean higher prices as we'll need to bring in 3rd party security to cover the events.

We are aware that a price per person (rather than per pitch) will adversely affect those with families, we have tried to keep the rates as low as is financially possible, and for a full two nights and entry to the show we are still one of the cheapest events on the calendar that has track action.

So there you go, a little behind the scenes look at how/why our pricing structure changes and how we reach the numbers we do.

If anyone wants to take there 126 on the track These are the Rules.

RR Gathering 2010 Track Attack

Obviously this isn't a competitive event and just for fun but we still need to have some safety requirements.

Cars must have valid MOT *

Drivers must have Valid D/L Licence *

*(These will be check prior to the event as part of the sign on process, including the Haynes disclaimer)

Helmets will be worn when on circuit – fastened correctly

Arms need to be covered down to the wrists.

Seatbelts (where fitted) must also be used.

Windows will only be permitted to be down a max of 2 inches if it's blisteringly hot otherwise kept closed.

No Passengers on track - Drivers only

There should be no loose items in the car so don't turn up with all your camping gear shoved on the back seats (your time points score would be rubbish anyway

Slick tyres are NOT Permitted

No Passengers on track - Drivers only

No refuelling in the track area

Max 10 cars inside circuit per session (in each session each car will run 3 times in starting order) – the area will be segregated and conned and will be as far as practically possible from the parts of the circuit in use.

A visual check for any fluid leaks (Water or Oil) as well as for loose items inside the car will be carried out by the “Safety Controller” in the pre-staging area – any issues would need to be resolved before going on circuit – this may potentially result in the car being asked to leave the pre-staging area.

Any cones around the circuit do not indicate braking or turn in points and may also be used to keep cars away from any damaged/hazardous surface (we have that hairpin in mind when we wrote that)

We've established a control team who are going to manage the activity hopefully we have learnt just a few things from last year and this year is going to be even better.

All “Controllers” will have quick access to a fire extinguisher, The recovery vehicle will also have one and one will be located at the furthest point from the control area.

Circuit orientation will follow once I've cleaned up the jpeg but in summary it's planned to run anticlockwise (ie opposite direction to last time)

Only one car will be on the circuit at any time - however with the circuit layout planned it would be expected that once a car had started and was on circuit (completed the first lap) the next competitor would be waiting at the start position (not part of the circuit after the previous car has left the start).

As last year part of the track is used twice (with a small twist) – failure to follow circuit direction correctly will result in void run.

On the first circuit a conned chicane will be part of the circuit Contact with these cones will incur penalty points. (plus they leave a nasty scuff mark on your paintwork)

On the second circuit the Follies Curve will be used.

The course terminates in a “boxed area” stop - Cars finish stationary with all four wheels inside the box – wheels outside the box will require the car to be reversed or driven forwards until all wheels are inside the box when the run will be considered complete.

Perhaps the above needs further explanation so here it is
As a result of a review of the last years event we’ve listened to the points raised and reversed the track direction – this left us with a small safety issue - The run down to the finish is heading towards the pre-staged cars – last time we were allowed to pre-stage the cars inside the fencing as the finish was the slowest part of the track (except when the actions of phoenixescort and his almost “sena like” approach was involved) – in order to ensure speeds at the finish point are “safe” for everyone inside the circuit braking will need to be carried out early in order to stop inside the box – with a safe margin for error before the pre-staged car area.

Obviously as we are “unable to time the event” a cunning points system will be used to produce class results - still working on that

Thought I would just say that if any of you guys are thinking of going to this event but have not decided  then the track part is an additional option so you can just turn up , park up & shoot the breeeze  8)
I was fortunate enough to turn up last year just in time last year to witness Bis 13 doing his bit , a memorable event. I have heard on the vine that Pete in his Bis is going for a pink slip shoot out with small cox in the aircooled turbo  [-/
Or was that just a dream ...............

PS. Smallcox's car sounds even sweet-er than it looks [-/

All those who didn't make it, you missed-out on a fantastic weekend.

Pete did 270 miles each way from Leeds, Steve was on his way back from Cornwall and had an estimated 6 hours to get back to his in a car that can sit at 70. The other two cars didn't have that far to go but proved 126's can travel....

Mine sat at 70 all the way back home bar going up hills, didn't miss a beat.

Hope you guys all got back ok [-/

It was a pleasure to meet you guys. It was a great day out and was fantastic to see four 126s on the day. Steve, congratulations again for the engineering award. The modifications you did was definitely an engineering feat - absolutely amazing. Pete, many thanks for showing me the many modifications on your car. I will definitely have another go with the headlight protectors.

It took me three hours to get there and 135 miles but took over 5.5 hours on the return journey as the traffic was horrendous on the A303 and A406 (resurfacing at Staples Corner causing a tailback all the way back Chiswick roundabout) but my little Fiat survived it. Cruised at +70mph no problems, the car appears to prefer these speeds. I am now quite confident driving my baby Fiat long distances. The car has been quite reliable. Darrell/Steve you guys are right in terms of giving credit to the car but I think others do not seem to enjoy the same level of reliablilty as we do. Hope to see you on other meetings and events.

Those are some great pics . I will post one more of my rubbish ones but it shows the Escort (far left) just about to follow smallcox out on the track for its grand finale when he rolled & wrote off his car. Also there is a tiny white spec on the top bank , that is Pete catching all the action. Sorry boys it only took me 1.5 hours to get back to my holiday destination on traffic free roads. Well done pete that journey beat my 595 mile 2 day Cornwall dash  [-/
