Title: My 126 Bis (NOW FOR SALE)

Not really  a restoration , but a photo record on my new 126 Bis 14000 miles from new !

Had the car week, but hav,nt had time to do anything yet.

Drove it home about 140 miles and went like a dream.

Had trouble starting the car today after a bit of investigation i find battery is knackered , ordered a
new one it arrived 2 hours later !

Fitted the new battery and she fires up straight away weeeeeeee!
Then cleaned it , but  havnt polished yet , ran out of time .

Here are the pics , few things planned and will update as i go.

This is a nice car, is the original color?
In Germany there is the BIS only in red and blue, white very very rare.
Can you tell me what this is for a color code?

I dont know the code but believe its called bianca white ,  will look for the code  tomorrow unless someone else knows the answer.

Actually, the front stickers in the trunk of a color code, as is the code number and the name of the color

This is definitely a minter. Fanatastic buy. There must be very very few of this left. Keep it orginal and low mileage. Congratulations!

I dont think it will be totally original , but anything i do will be able to be put back to standard .
Well apart from a sunroof i do fit one .

Are you really sure about the sun roof?  :no: We don't get that much sun, and think of that lovely roof you won't be able to polish................

I am planning on fitting a steel sunroof into my 126.  I have cut the roof out of a scrap car and hope to be fitting it in the 126 soon.  If I can get my act together it will be at the scottish italian day held by the alfa club in st andrews april/may.  I will take photos and post when Ihave it done.

Nice car Steve.
Ive got a 126 Bis with the same colour interior, but my seats dont have headrests. also the drivers bolster is worn away. any idea where i can get a pair of fronts seat like yours.

Have you decided the type of sunroof you installing on your Fiat? Pete 126 installed on on his and it looks great, as if it was factory installed.

and fitted a JVC face off cd player, came for nothing via work, no speakers yet though ..lol

Well had a play yesterday , made a MDF parcel shelf (1st time i have done one ) well chuffed its a perfect fit! , fitted a JVC head unit and decent JBL 4 channel amp and some JBL 6x9 speakers , it just needs covering .

Have some JBL component speakers for the front but a friend is going to make some custom boxes for those as i dont want to cut the door carads or doors.

Also got the speedline alloys and new tyres on and had the tracking done , feels so much better now.
Still dosnt look low enough though..... :(

Ok
Day off today , took my mini to my bodyshop for some work , got back and washed the Bis .
Here is some pics from today showing the clear front and side lenses and the new wheels and tyres

It is amazing how swapping over to clear lenses have enhanced the look of your Fiat - looks great. I think the new lowered front suspension has settled down well. Are you still pursuing the sunroof? The abarth wheels looks fantastic.

The sunroof is still happening , the guy in Sandwich ,Kent has retrimmed the roof  i,m just waiting for the call to go get it fitted .

Summers here so i hope he hurrys up...lol

Still got to sort out the rear lowering (has anyone got an old set of rear shocks for a bis).

Have most parts for the front disc conversion (just need to source the new or recon calipers.

Still got the 123 ignition to fit (still not sure its going too ).

Drivers seat backrest has gone all floppy so need to look at that (didnt think they was adjustable ?)

Sort out a very small paint bubble on the boot lid and a small ding on front wing before the winter .

Then maybe retrim the seats and door cards in Black .

Tbh i have spent a fortune on this car and i need to stop....lol

My mini is getting neglected and i think i will miss this summers shows due to it not being finished beacause of the 126...lol

Its a late 80`s early 90`s so perfect period for the car .
£155 won off ebay that was a bargain believe it or not, the frame needed no resto.
£342 to recover in black everflex as per Rolls Royce new headliner on the sunroof, a pair of new nylon feet so its slides lovely and a new hard trim kit that goes around the roof frame and fitting .
so £497 fitted!!
 
Far from cheap but i wanted one , i think it makes the car .

I just found the seats are recliners so the floppyness is sorted..lol

The sunroof looks fanatastic!! Perfect for the mild and sunny weather we have been having!! Did they do good job of the headlining? What is next?

Mot today passed 1st time no advisories [-/
Happy bunny , 2600 trouble free  miles (fingers crossed)
rear suspension still to lower , might remove a leaf from the front .
Front discs still to do .
Sunroof is open full time...lol

Changed the cd head unit for a very nice  sony unit with bluetooth hands free
and the 2 tiny paint issues are now sorted .

I like doors pockets and speakers on a side :) is it comfortible fit with seats? Does it affect sound?
(ok ok, I know, being in 126 affects any sound.....:) )

Speakers in the door builds are fine jan they are no wider than the original pockets , sounds awsome too.

Hello! Very sad to hear you are selling your 126 Bis. For those of you who are looking for a mint condition 126 Bis, look no further. I was eyeing this car before I bought my own minter. I saw Steve's car recently and it is in very good nick, enhanced by recently added sound system, Abarth alloys, sunroof, to name a few. If I did not have my other 126 Bis, I would buy this one!!! G O O D  L U C K!!!

CERTAINLY not knocking the car at all, but the £4500 insurance price would be very hard to reach.

I know your not knocking the car i didnt thenk you was .
I didnt value it, the insurance company did.
I know its not worth anywhere near that figure but i didnt do it to sell it this quickly .
Sold my mini turbo today , i dont really have to sell but if it goes it will help a little .
As i said , my loss someones gain, this is not the usual unreliable 126 5000 miles in 6-7 months proves that .
