AS spoke with two of you I am at the edge of some important decisions. So regardless of what is going to happen I decided to let ol of you know I might be forced to sell my electric orange 1980. In restoration section there is more than needed to find out about its condition:
http://club126uk.co.uk/smf/index.php?topic=4392.0
I am a bit gutted but as everything is going really good for me at the moment some decisions must be made. And as I did open with Chris FSO forum, got expensive Polonez from Poland + one more ENORMOUS barn find still awaiting collection I am affraid I will really have to let orange go.
It is MOT'd from yesterday so registering it will be a piece of cake. Clutch cable might do with adjustment even if drives lovely as is. Thats it.
This time I don't want to go to Ebay, it is like selling a friend. I had a really very good ideas for orange but if I won't spend a lot of mony now for a sake of my close future I might not get a chance like this ever again.
So here you go, price is £1600 and NO LESS as it ows me way more and if I will have to, it will go on Ebay to make hopefully more. Thing is I need money before this Sunday so please get it to good, fiat twisted home and I will have what I need.
If I will not make it till Sunday I will see how thing will go on Monday and will possibly put it on ebay if it wont be to late for my investment. Without stupid auctions - just BuyNow and best offer.
Think its worth £1600 for 100000%. I won't add anything as I am pissed enough to have to write as much.
Sometimes it all goes bad.

:) Hey Jan I am starting to think that you have got more "Oranges" than the man from Del Monte but keep them coming as it all helps to put the 126 on the map . Does look good as well & tepting [-/
-
Feel free to have it :d I will deliver it especially for you :) I do not have much of them and fact I am selling it is forced by circumstances. I am nor rich - thats the problem. If I wont sell it by the weekend I might keep it as well. I don't know.
I just don't like to use any financial help (banks, friends) as long as I don't really have to... It is better to sell something you love than ask for help. At least for me :)

Jan, I was seriously considering this car. But, I have just looked through all of the pics and noticed the one of the inner rear arch without the wheel attatched. There are two very large patches welded in there, I presume because of rust? If so, the standard of welding should fail a UK MOT, as regulations do say that welding should be continuous and not just tacked on like those patches. Obviously in Poland this is not so, but thought you ought to know before someone buys it and gives you grief! Your MOT tester probably didnt spot it with the wheel on the car.
-
I know these places :) and this might not look good but it was just to make inner arch stronger as hole welded in was much smaller than what you see. Tester has seen it and despite fact he is a colleague of my friend he just said "some blind man welded few bits in, has he?". And laughed a lot. But honestly - he said only two reasons why it might have not passed if somebody else would drive it in (he didn't even said he wouldn't let it go through) are:
1. I did not connect jet washers as i have no washer bag :)
2. I forgot to fit freshy maschine washed seatbelts :)
But they know me and know they can trustif I said seatbels are there. So basicly it wasn't any "friendly" MOT like some people do for rubbishes. It did pass with this. And i can't say anything about MOT standards but this is a very solid car and trust me - in my career I had classics in much worse shape and they did went throught easily.
All in all - I gave any potential buyer way more pictures anybody gives these days so it is up to them :D like you - you can always say NO, THANKS, IT ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME.
-
Fiatfsm, you have a got a very good eye for detail.
The car looks even better with those white walled tires. Soooooo, tempting. Unfortunately, I still have my other 126 Bis which I am still trying to sell. It has been scheduled (in the qeue) for restoration by Proeitti since last year but due to other work on other vintage Fiat cars, it has been delayed by a year. They have notified me today that they could start the resto. in the next couple of months. It is going to cost a bomb!!! Anyone interested in my 126 Bis? Make me an offer.
-
LOL, Ive looked at more 126s than I care to remember and seen all the places they rot. Ive never actually owned one with rust in the rear arches, usually its the front around the double skinned area. That orange 126 is one of the best looking ones Ive seen, it just looks so cool but.... :-X
-
But what? :D
-
its too orangy for crows.... :D
(plus bump for epically cool car)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5LvLn9PWln8
-
But what? :D
OK you did ask.... please dont get upset or offeneded as this is supposed to help you. I see a lovely 126 all freshly restored. Then I see two plates welded in the rear arch, lets be honest they are a bodge and anyone will tell you the same. They will just make the rust thats under them rot faster.. its not the way to repair panels.
Now, they are very obvious and you have to now wonder how the rest of the car was repaired... are there plates like that in the floors, the sills and front arches around the suspension? Have they been covered in filler to hide them in places? Its questions that people will ask. Your MOT tester should have failed that 126 on the welding, he doesnt know if the hole behind is right by the spring and how big it is, all he can see is welding far below MOT standard. If it was my car, Id be getting out the chisel and ripping those plates off to see whats under them. Someone could buy your car and discover these and have the car examined by a VOSA inspector and your MOT place could lose its licence... it has happened before... I bought my first 126 eleven years ago and it had welding like yours but in the front arches. You couldnt see it till it was up in the air. I asked the guy for my money back as it had a fresh MOT, he refused. I rang VOSA who then contacted the MOT station and within 1/2 hour the guy was on his way with a trailer and my money... turned out the trader I bought the 126 from was a mate of the MOT tester!!!
Put it this way, if they werent there and all the rot had been properly cut out and repaired... Id be up your way on Sunday with £1600 ;)
-
Well, all I can say you might be right in a few places but first off all I have never said car was rebuild 100% and is like new condition. The other thing is I had this kind of welding on my beetles before and if it was cleaned properly I have had no problems for next years - including MOT. Third thing is - I don't have to ripp anything off as I know people who did it and for me it is enough to ask :) I am sorry you had a problem with seller and after you did this mess around, I try do not deal with people like them and all together I am always as honest as possible. So I gave everybody those pictures to see, I have said "sold as seen" and it is up to the public to sya "yes" or "no".
And now the most important thing - if this car would be in a condition you would desire it to be, you wouldn't be on your way with £1600 as these days £1600 won't buy a descent, 100% restored and done to the top standard 126. As simple as that. Just for your information I have found one which is 1983, showroom condition and 2100 km done from new. It is amazing vehicle but it will cost me almost £2000 to buy it in Poland. For a budget of few hunderd pound you can only buy what you can buy. I am sure my 126 is worth this £1600 without ANY hesitation in a shape it is at present.
And last thing - why it is always a rule number 1 that the most criticism and most comments always comes from those who either don't have a car at all either want to buy something brilliant for half price? :D :D
No offence but you just pissed me off, if this one isn't worth as much as i am asking for non of fiats in the UK are....
-
FiatFSM, don't rise to the bait.
I was forced to sell my 126 due to family problems and also got it in the neck from some members. Nice to see you back.
-
I knew dajwid will come out to have a word in this tread.... Not only me :D
-
So forgeting the welding, This car passed it's MOT without seat belts and no screen washers or bag fitted? ? ? ?
-
To make it clear - seatbelts we "borrowed" for few minutes from another car he has, washers and pipes are fitted so as only bag was missing we put water in a plastic bottle and it did a job as they work correct so the manual pump works well. In the end of the day I didn't do this MOT for sale, I did it for myself so I didn't bothered with details. Anyway, I have enough good opinion to get an MOT even without proof it works as people respect me.
All in all MOT is in place, seatbelts are fitted corectly and bag should be here by tomorrow midday :D
-
I think it's a shame to be getting all these negative views when nobody has looked at the car.
I've seen it, It is immaculate. It was taken by Pinewood studios for filming so they must have been content with its roadworthiness.
If there is someone out there wishing to buy it then I think it's a bit unfair that they are likely to be put off by people who haven't seen the car and have no interest in buying it.
'devoncol' had a very hard time trying to sell his 83 Brown. I didn't agree with his price either, but the lack of offers would have told him that.
We are lucky that we can sometimes get the oppertunity to buy cars before they go on ebay, but with responses like these, people will go straight to ebay with their cars.
-
Looking at all the work and money gone into the car, hard to find an early 126 ready to go, in this condition for this money at the moment.
People can always 'try before they buy' surely. Unlike the usual Ebay gamble.
We know the owner knows a little about 126 cars ;D
-
Michael - you got 5 points from me :D And now seriously - Ebay is a poo place. There is 5h to go and the highest bid from a bidder with only 3 points (0,0% positive feedback as all 3 points were earned longer than 12 months ago) and obiously no contact what so ever (I did try to confirm this bid).
So as far as I know my luck there will be no sale what so ever and I will be f****d just because someone is a complete idiot or something :(
Whats is wrong with people????
I should introduce the same solution than in a case of some of my favourite nation (have a look in MONKEY BIKE STOLEN) :D
-
You'll easily clear £1600 with those bids, just as long as you don't get lumbereed with a buyer who cant collect till next week!!
-
I see it went for £1550 ;)
-
It did but SOME ASHOLE just notify me by email "somebody was using his account"......... Zero f***n feedback, account open just now, I HAVE NO MORE PATIENCE FOR IDIOTS WHAT SO EVER. From today on WAR against idiots. I am tired, can't understand what they have in THESE S****T HEADS!!!!!!!!!!!!
So looks like I will be keepin' it for some time then as no time to put auction again. Will talk to some German guy who sounds very reasonable and he offered much more. We will see.
Brake from Ebay for sure, asholes and asholes everywhere.... :(
-
I think we all have Ebay horror stories to tell. You can filter the bidding. Personally I thing prices will go up as the weather gets better, the show season begins and people will be looking for a summer show car, thats fun too.
-
Ive sold loads on ebay, cars, bikes etc and only once got messed about. Its a very good place in general but you do get some idiots. Using a classified listing is better, cheaper and it cuts the idiots out.
-
If anyone can pay £1400 cash and pick it up tomorrow or Sunday I will be happy to sell.... Something else is coming :D so I am in rush. And polonez need some "care" as well so can't have all goods on the planet.
If not - I will list it again on Ebay Monday but this time as classified add - NO MORE IDIOTS :)
-
hi jan, sorry your ebay auction fell through, some right nobs outthere, anyway if you could which you cant due to fact you need the money , get it registered in the uk , boost your sale no end .
the average joe, treating his daughter or someone they love, even themselves . might be frightened by the fact its not registered in the uk, and they would have to wait and find out how to do it, dispite it being a easy process .
anyway saying that , it should have sold anyway ...
keeo us posted as sure you will. hey keep off your own justice just yet he he , then you can knee cap people and find them ditches :) he he
take care and good luck .
-
Well, you're right. It might help but taking into account prices of 126 at present I would have to spen additional £100 for insurance and about £120 for dvla fee plus roadtax. So £220 I will never get back. Plus one day off to deal with my local office. From my point of you it would be much easier for the new owner to do it for himself buying my fiat cheaper. I think you are right people are scared of the process. But my main problem is I jjust have not enought time to even sleep, not mentioning one day off during week. Money is another factor but this is changing in my business every week so I suppse if I will keep it long enough to register it then I will either keep it either sell but for much more. There is not much competition for my car really on the Market :) especially I did recieved huge box with accesories yesterday and if I put in on 126 then we have amazing small car. So I am not keen to add all this, spend time and money to sell it £100 more expensive than it can does on eBay as is.
-
If you could afford to hold on to it & put it up for sale at a Classic Car Show in the spring/summer I think it would get a lot of interest & you could get the sort of money you're looking for. The Uxbridge car show could be a good place if you still have it then.
-
I agree with Derek definitely. Your orange aircooled is lovely. I am sure you can get your asking price and possibly more if you readvertise it in the classified ads (car and classic type) and on ebay simultaneously in the spring/summer time. It is all down to timing. Keep it original. I love the colour.
-
Ok, I did registered 126 in DVLA today. So in 48h I will recieve plates certificate and reg number [-/ logbook will follow in 10 working days.
Now for everyone - let's make some guessing. 126 will go on Ebay as soon as I will have all these papers.
Whoever want - lets guess what it will fetch in 10 days auction being UK registere, with 6 months tax + obviously loads of pictures will be given to potential buyers plus wide description.
When I sell it whoever will be the closest with his guess will get VERY NICE and impossible to buy present for his 126 (both air and BIS are fine) :) :) well worth good guess [-/
-
£1750, IF I WIN , CAN I HAVE A RACE ENGINE?..LOL
-
No :) but it will be nice anyway. I won't sell it for 1750 - thats for sure :) even if someone would come on his knees :D hope for more
-
If I guess correct how much it will fetch, can I have the car for free ;)
-
NO! :D Onother one wants something for free ;D ;DThis forum address should be www.clubHYENASuk.co.uk
Hi hihihih hi hi hi hi....
Please guess, I need as much gesses as possible. I am actually making a research!
-
I don`t like to talk numbers, but i hope you`ll get for it as much as possible. It is a lovely car. [-/
-
I think £1950 any chance ELX door windows as prize.
Ralph
-
from what i can see from the market is that you will reach around 2.5k tops if the right buyer comes along. i hope they do .
-
Jan you need to buy one of these next, lol

Hi Jan, your orange 126 will sell for 2.5K plus, I am absolutely sure of that. There are many other Fiat 126 enthusiasts out there, like me. Through the years, I have always wanted one. I was searching and waiting patiently for a mint 126. I finally found a minter (low mileage, full service history/mots, service book, tool kit etc) last year, paid an arm and a leg for it (almost 3K). As soon as I saw it, I knew it was exactly what I wanted. If you want to avoid time wasters, advertise it (long-term if need be) in Car and Classic, Pistonheads and other reputable sites. I actually bought mine from Pistonheads. You just need to be very patient.
-
I am patient :) yes, ELX windows might be as a price :)
And this orange on wheels is just perfect for me :D
-
Why not post your orange 126 on the Garage section so that fellow members can marvel at your beautiful car on demand!
-
jan why not wait for that film to premier then offer the car for the premier and try and get some exposure that way the car is recognised as being "that car in the film" and can potentially boost the value an alternative venue to sell is via a reputable auctioneers but then you have to pay them a cut for the sale.
-
Looking at spares prices from a certain company in Surrey.
Engine = 1,580.00
Wheels + ? +
I make it worth about 15000 pounds ;D :D ;D
Nice car, only minus in the UK is that it is LHD. 2500, I agree. But as always anything is only worth how much someone is willing to pay.
-
Well, we all will see. I am realy interested how it will go as I am almost sure the only one problem so far it was polish registration.
It is not a minter but very very good looking and perfectly working car so I would be happy to get anything above 2K. Hope it will happen easily.

Re the OUTSPAN Orange car. there were two or three of those parked in a compound right on the north end of Berkhampstead high street for years. May have been the only ones & I believe they were based on Mini running gear.
