Title: Hello from me and my air cooled
Post by: bazzerbeeza on November 05, 2009, 04:29:39 PM
I was getting a bit bored in retirement and so I concluded that a kit car was the answer. It had to be an easy car to work on as most of my mechanical knowledge is from older British motorcycles so the air cooled 126 fitted the bill. You 126 purists had better look away now.
The main change was to replace the body with a two seater open top body kit. The kit was called Cool 500 and mine was the first of three sales in the UK before the firm went bust. It still has the original engine and gearbox and gives me a lot of fun when I take it out on dry days only. A few pics follow:

What a cool little car. From looking at the pictures, I'm just wondering, is the exhaust on the left hand side (when looking from behind) a dummy or is it in some way connected to the head?

I'd love to see some images of the engine bay,

Thanks,

Dom

Hi Dom, The exhausts on the right are genuine. In a moment of madness I thought they looked unbalanced so I made the other pair out of a chrome desk leg from our local DIY store. I thought it may give the Beemas something to think about at the traffic lights.
Its a good time for a piccy of the engine as I'm just replacing the oilseal in the timing case.
