i just bought what i thought was a decent 126. was on ebay yes and i paid top money for it. picked it up drove it about and all was fine. so set off on the journey - telford to bradford on avon. quite a challenge. probably the biggest drive it had ever done. i got so leominster and noticed it getting hot so pulled over had a break and topped up water and carried on. it was just outside monmouth that the real trouble started.
head gasket gone i reckon.
lets just say my introduction the the world of the 126 has been a happy one. now stuck with knackered 126 that i paid 950£ for and its screwed...better learn to repair this myself as i think garage costs make this one write off.
feel sick.
can anyone offer me any reassuring advice?
thanks

Pity
Sorry to hear that, it's unfortunately a bis thing, where the thermostat sticks closed.
Change the gasket, and then rip the thermostat out :(

i would go back and smack the seller in the moosh.

this car is so interesting just because youll always have something to work on him. Maybe you now are angry but the more you have this car more youll love to repair it...

mm..yes i made a bad decision. the car i have to work on is my cortina mk2.
now this one seems to be the higher maintenance of the two already.
not sure what i can do. if i could get to telford easily i would maybe do the smack in the maaaf but i am too far away.
i am hoping he might give me a bit of money back to meet me somewhere on the repair costs.
just hope it doesnt involve a new cylinder head also.
