hi there. i have a bis and as far as i no if i wanted to put a new steering wheel onto the bis then i have to buy a boss kit ? . is tht true no matter what one that i buy. i want one that is wood effect on thee the rim and chrome spokes so it gives the vintage look.
i do no one thing tho, that i need to get the diameter right otherwise it will be inbetween my legs when i am driving :D
so yup or no to the boss kit ?
thanks

thats right aftermarket steering wheel means a boss kit so just make sure you get the right boss kit for both car and the wheel , most are the same bolt pattern .

And don't forget the horn, a lot of after market steering wheels don't have them like the original (at least like in my 126) so need to work out where you can fit a handy button for it.

where did u fit the horn ?

i havent changed the steering wheel but you can get a button and fix it to the plastic covering bit (forget what its called!) and have it near the indicator stalk. if you look into it make sure you get a button with a picture of a horn on it as i believe thats an MOT requirement. years ago i did a simliar thing with an old mini i had, i used a horn button from an electric power truck and it was perfect :D

I've been getting momentary switches from Maplin and was just going to stencil the symbols onto them. They only cost a couple of £ each.

if your buy a decent steering wheel then it will come with a centre push horn as normal if it doesnt then its up to "system d" to sort it out.
