I was wondering has anyone ever fitted and electric cooling fan to an aircooled engine?
Most of the problems I get with my aircooled result from standing for long periods motionless in traffic around town. The mechanical fan seems unable to cope, though maybe this could also be improved.
Was thinking of fitting an electric fan to the engine lid vents or perhaps modify the side vent air collector to incoporate an electric fan.
Any thoughts anyone?

Hey Man you are driving a car that was designed to run in Italy so if you have overheating probs then something is not right there & you need to look closer to home. Check air intakes & the jumbo hose , fan belt tension , thermostat & flap opening, ignition timing & carb fuel mixture [-/

I've seen these things thrashed to within mm of their life and still been OK, Unless the car has serious engine tuning, overheating is rarely a problem. As the last post says, if it is overheating you have a problem. A fan is not really going to help.

Thanks for the advice I thought that might be the reply and your right of course Nottingham hardly compares to the climate in southern Italy :oops:
I have rebuilt the engine a couple of times and recently had the head converted for unleaded but as such it now runs a little hotter and I have been having a lot of fun trying to get the timing and mixture right, 10 degrees BTDC just doesn't work!
Another dumb question but if I put an electric fuel pump on do I leave the mechanical one in place as a fuel regulator or remove it?

get rid of the mech pump and blank it off.
