Ideal for the Pool and Southamton guys, but a 350miles round trip is too far for me in a 126 for a day. There are a few local shows that I will be attending though.
Always a problem as we are so widely spread, there used to be some sort of map on the old site, can it be 'bolted on' somewhere?
Personally I thing more shows should be in Essex :oops:

After the hugely successful 2008 event Retro Rides Gathering is returning in 2009, bigger, better and more action packed.
Sunday 16th August will see the Retro Rides Gathering head to the Haynes Motor Museum, Sparkford, Yeovil, Somerset. As in previous years the show will have the finest Retro machinery representing the wide range of vehicles in the retro scene from hot rods and customs through to circuit racers and stock dailys. In addition to the fantastic line up of cars there will be traders, show prizes, cars from the museum offering rides and for 2009 the Retro Rides Gathering has RWYB sprint track action on the Sparkford circuit.
Cost of entry is £15 per car, so fill up with as many people as you can fit and make a great day out. Booking an advanced entry pass through the website will also get you one free pass to the museum. i have just booked a weeks camping in dorset prior to retro rides so i shall be nice and close to yeovil and move camp on the friday for the weekend with my wife and kids too!
booked for two cars unfortunately one is a crusty old citroen xantia estate... the support vehicle.

There is also Track time available [-/
Track : £15 for 3 runs.
Track will be time attack, That means a total of 9 laps, the run in, timed lap, and run out. If you want to run you have to show your license, MOT.

the show has come round really quickly.
looking forward to it, taking my 126 on a 100 mile round trip tomorrow to test it out a bit, hasnt had a proper long run in a while. Also want to see if it still overheats no thermostat has been removed.
Mick you towing your 126 behind Tracy's car on way down to Devon or driving it?

There should not be a problem Jan :) come on down you can use my stand pass.
I started but i failed. set off at 12.15pm and got stuck on the M1 due to an overturned caravan, when i got Derby the 126 started making some funny noises and got worse nearing Nottingham, I managed to keep it going through the long contraflow and pulled off at notts, the alternator bolts had all sheard off. Managed to do a repair and nurse it back to Leeds. will be going down there tomorrow in the daily, so see you all there.

Thanks for a great weekend, Mick, Pete was good to see you again and nice to meet Darrel and Stuey,
its great to say we saw mick race his 126 round the track, was certainly a crowd pleaser, and was surprisingly quick! Certainly thrashed the 2cv! :D
i got home, was doing between 60-70 most of the way home, didnt even stop to let engine cool not bad for an engine thats now done 98,600!
Will get some pics on here shortly of mick racing, we got some video footage too!

Pics to follow, mine cruised home not missing a beat at 65-70mph, even the wife was impressed!
Got home and had the traditional Southern african braai (barbaque) with my dad who turned 69 on sunday and presented hom with a manual from the Haynes museum on the VW Polo I got for him not so long back. Of interest is the injection system on the Polo which is single point.
Basically the injector injects fuel into what looks like a carburettor so been looking at it with interest thinking maybe we can steal it and fit it to a 126 :oops: I'll steal it off a car in the scrappy ;D

:) On holiday & in Swanage library at the moment. Well worth the trip up to see you guys & put more faces to names . Great to meet Pete , Stuey & Darrell. Could not find Mick when | Got there then realised that he was probably lining up for a track run & he was. I got there just in time to see the 3 laps , GREAT [-/ Masive bonus was getting the twin choke Holley (Weber 30 DIC type) carb for £10 off one of the few autojumble stalls. It looked pretty crap & rusted solid but when I got back to the flat the owner had left a tin of 3 in 1 oil there along with a basic tool kit so within an hour or so I had stripped & checked out most of it & freed off the main butterfly but could not shift the second one so left it over night. Just got back on it after lunch & got that sorted too. Good news is the carb is complete apart from one stud & a tiny split pin , one thread needs a helicoil but there is no play at all on the butterfly spindles so it has had little use :) :) You have just got to look out for these things Chris [-/

Considering the power diference...23hp versus huge horsepower in some of those cars, and considering this is probably one of the forst times a 126 has seen a track in this country apart from the heavily modified V8, I'd say with a little more practice it would be a very respectable time [-/
Also they said the class would be the same as a 2CV..well looks like the BMW 2002 was shown the way ;)....and he looked faster! [-/
