Title: Going old-school...
Post by: Gordan on December 23, 2008, 10:49:20 PM
Heres the deal, the car im going to get for a spare box is supposed to have these old plastic bumpers, so im thinking of putting em on my bis, as i now have the new stop light clusters with reversing lights (which need some modification...) i dont need the bis ones, the only problem i can see is that the bis side plastic thingys are lower than these old ones, so dk how to cover up the holes...  :-
the third option was ofcourse the prettiest ones, the chrome bumpers, but i cannot seem to find a pair, and then id have to cover the holes on the doors, and then paint the doors, which is rather a pain in the ar*e... :p

I don't mind the newer 'wrap' round type plastic bumpers either. The BIS bumpers look cool, makes the bottom of the car look streamlined. A touch of sportiness. But nothing beats chrome bars: the way light shines off it, and how the lines on the road reflect off them (and there's something to polish on the car as well :) )

Gordon, if your thinking old school, you have to go down either the chrome bumper or no bumper route.....go on, fill the holes...you know you want to......... 8)

I have stuck to plastic as I am too poor at the moment to get chrome.

I thought it would fail an MOT test without bumpers.

you can make the old bumpers look better by fitting them so they sit closer to the bodywork after giving them a good refurb of course . but then again the bis bumpers are okay , but the cars look so much better without any ..

well i found a pair of new ones in Serbia for 38€ each, plus they have those side plastic that comes with them, but only the aft ones... gotta save some cash now...

p.s. theese guys i mentioned have most of the parts for 126es including BISes, ive already ordered some relays, carb choke plastic parts, and front white indicators. theyre quite cheap and i think they ship world wide...
