Just aquired a nice exhaust for my 126 ,could anyone recommend a make and model of after market air filter i could fit too the 126 aircooled engine?
-
your best bet is a nice bike filter as they tend to fit straight onto the pipe very nicely. as for make go with what you can afford a good cleanable cotton filter such as a k & n will do the trick. take your pipe along to a motor cycle shop and have a look.

its the simple ideas that work ,i had not thought of taking the pipe off and taking it with me!! thanks for the advice

Hi Timothy,
I'm in the same boat, just fitted a sports exhaust & looking for a decent air filter. I measured the pipe that the original filter fits onto, found it to be 43mm diameter. Found this one on eBay that looks good & is cheap.

What do you think?

yeah that will do the trick as long as it lets more air in and keeps the crap out then its okay
-
ordered one of those filters from ebay awaiting its arrival in the post,if it works its a bargain at that price looking at 20 quid for a k & n filter so heres hoping! had a hell of a job trying to get my old exhaust off must be the rustiest bit of my car ,hopefully a friend will come to my rescue at the weekend with an oxi acetelyne torch and a hitachi impact driver,

Guess I was lucky then? My exhaust came off really easily, the whole job only took about half an hour, looks great too! :D

Anyway, best of luck with yours at the weekend.
You'll have to let me know how you get on with the air filter. I've decided to concentrate on the brakes (which are pooe at the moment), figured it may be better to make it stop quicker before trying to make it go faster. :smt023

That is one nice 126. That is by far my favourite colour for it. Mine used to be that colour - and still is in the interior. I wonder when that colour will be revived
-
Cheers Dom, glad you like it. I didn't like the colour when I bought the car but it's really grown on me! :D
-
Hey Timothy, How'd you get on with your exhaust at the weekend? :smt102

not had the chance to fit exhaust as yet ,little jobs only im a busy man cleaned up all the brackets and bolts for my bumpers and have sent them to be nickle plated, not done much else, the motorbike air filter arrived will fit that on over weekend and see how that goes, got to sort the brakes out as well!!!! finish fitting everything back onto the car and it off for the dreaded mot!
