Hi
I looking for one of these little cars cheaper the better but the less rust the better also. What should I be looking out for in terms of things that go wrong eg overheating( head gasket etc). I'm in Ireland so is there any Irish members here? But I will travel to the uk to pick one up.

LOL, were always telling people that!!! hi mate welcome to the forum, look on ebay! theres always at least 5 to choose from, expect to pay about 200 for a fixer project up to 1500 for a minter, but you rarely get those!

For one of many complete newbe questions were exactly is the engine? I thought it was in the back of the car but looking through pics in the garage section I saw a picture of a boot space. So does the engine sit in the back with a boot space above it or is it a more standard in the front part :?:

The engine is located under the rear boot, as u can see in the pic, its pretty much the same layout as the Smart cars use (except this is better:)

Its in the back, however... there are two main models of 126, both have rear engines.. the first model had an engine hatch at the back concealing the engine which was 600cc and 650 on later models. the other model (A BIS) like i have got, has a hachback with a small boot... the engine is a 704cc which lays flat under the boot floor... if you browse the garage you will notice the two different rears...
The two cars also have very diffrent interiors and levels of trim and colour...

Cool thanks I was under the impression that there wasn't any rear boot space but this just makes the car even more practical :D

Unless you buy an old model which has no rear boot... mite i just add there is room under the bonnet for a few shopping bags in the front of both models... and the seats fold down in the back!! so there is quite alot of space for such a small car!

Well it just means I should be able to squeeze my mountain bike into it :D which is a plus because I'm too lazy to cycle to the mountain :roll:

You can always put it on the roof, but that would mess up the state-of-the-art aerodynamics :D
