just looking on the axel gersil site and they do two crown and pinion sets one at 9/39 and one at 8/39, i'm a muppet when it comes to stuff like this but what would be the differance?
-
8/39 is 4.975/1 and 9/39 is 4.33/1 so about 12% higher
50-mph with 8/39 will become 56mph with 9/39 at same rpm
however there is also a 41 tooth crown gear in the earliest aircooled.
my FSM did 82mph with the 9/39 gearing downhill and screaming its tits off

8/39 is 4.875/1
