Does anyone happen to know the best place to get a working bis gearbox from? Not interested in paying close to £500 for a 'new' one, and also not willing to buy a bis for £50 just for the box. It must be a spare ,and not the unnessesary death of a good car.
-
what is it you want it for? if you dont mind.

To use on my car as I have wrecked 2 gearboxes from lack of oil/maintenance. Also to complete my collection - I have a 500R box, a 126p box and am just missing a bis box to complete the series.

W T F ?........hang on,you tell us you cant look after a box then want us to supply another/more???????
ive just spilt my wine, give another bottle eh?

dom you are a case, you need help mate!

The 1st one was shot when I got the car (1st gear was little more than useless - not my fault)
The other box isn't excessively bad, but making noise in all gears, when it only used to be 1st that had this problem. Could be a worn diff or even shaft bearings?
Also just want to try with a bis box as I'm interested to see the differences in ratios.
I'm not asking anyone to give me one, just where I can get one. Not seen one on ebay for a long time.

dont forget you have to change the bell housing eh?? easier just to buy my car dom

I can tell you where you can get one from. Sail up the M1 to the service station 300 metres past junction 21. I will be in a yellow / black 2CV with Bis gearbox + transmission + driveshafts. To turn round you have to go north again to junction 22.
banjo. :)
